- **PROJECT OVERVIEW**

A prominent organization in the Environmental Health & Safety domain, offering a world-class Learning Management System (LMS), Training Record Management System, and Compliance solutions. To enhance the data analysis and reporting capabilities, we are seeking a skilled Power BI Specialist to join our team on a temporary basis.

**DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES**

As a Power BI Specialist, you will be responsible for setting up and configuring Power BI to analyze and visualize data from an extensive database. Your primary objective will be to determine the feasibility and suitability of Power BI for the use case: to provide valuable insights into revenue distribution and reporting on retained earnings on course sales.

The specific responsibilities include:
1. Power BI Implementation: Set up Power BI and configure to connect to MySQL database, hosted in AWS. Ensure data connectivity, security, and efficient data retrieval.

2. Data Analysis and Visualization: Develop compelling visualizations and interactive dashboards in Power BI to effectively communicate data insights related to revenue by city, course earnings, and other key performance indicators.

3. Heat Maps of Revenue: Utilize Power BI's mapping capabilities to create heat maps that showcase revenue distribution by city, enabling the identification of geographical trends and opportunities.

4. Retained Earnings Reporting: Generate comprehensive reports using Power BI to analyze the retained earnings of our owned courses, enabling data-driven decision-making and future planning.

5. Backend System Access: Work on-site in Edmonton, AB, as access to our backend systems is required for seamless integration and optimal data retrieval. Adhere to all security protocols and sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to ensure the confidentiality of sensitive data.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**

To excel in this role, the Power BI Specialist should possess the following qualifications and skills_**(*Minimum 7 years experience)**_:
1. Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience working with Power BI and implementing data visualizations and dashboards for business analytics and reporting purposes.

2. Data Analysis Expertise: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and visualizations.

3. SQL and Database Knowledge: Proficiency in SQL and experience with database systems, preferably MySQL Server. Familiarity with cloud-based environments such as AWS is a plus.

4. Power BI Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of Power BI tools, including Power Query, Power Pivot, and DAX formulas. Experience with Power BI data modeling, report authoring, and Power BI Service administration is essential.

5. Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills to effectively gather requirements, present insights, and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

6. Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and reliability of data visualizations and reports.

7. Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and timelines, with a flexible mindset to handle evolving business needs.

8. NDA Compliance: Willingness to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive company data.
