The INN is a community based charitable organization that provides low barrier emergency shelter support to individuals 16 years of age and older who are experiencing homelessness. We provide case management, counselling, emotional support, food security, and access through community partnerships. The INN recognizes the challenges that clients face in supporting themselves and helps them overcome these challenges by focusing on these areas: Housing, food security, personal hygiene support, access to mental health and addiction services. Since 2010, we have transformed lives and empowered people to become self-reliant or find housing with supports.
Conditions of Employment:
- Legally entitled/allowed to work in Canada.
- Proof of being fully vaccinated for COVID-19 is mandatory.
- Clean and completed Vulnerable Sector Police Check at Employee’s own expense. (Original document provided at time of hire, copy then retained by The INN with original returned to the Employee).
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certification at Employee’s own expense
The Fund Development & Digital Marketing Manager must expect to be in potentially threatening situations while performing their duties at The INN.
The shelter work environment can be physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting; all staff on shift need to be capable at all times to:
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and self-control.
- Alternate sit/stand or walk/run at will.
- Climb up and down stairs frequently.
- Reach overhead, at/below shoulder level.
- Run to or from an incident.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Model and actively promote a positive, welcoming, non-judgmental, inclusive environment to all individuals accessing The INN, where every individual is treated with courtesy, respect, and compassion.
2. Maintain information in confidence as required except for instances where individuals are at risk of harm to themselves or others.
3. Adhere to the Staff Code of Conduct while upholding and enforcing all agency policies and procedures.
4. Work collaboratively with staff, security, onsite partnering agencies,
students, and volunteers.
5. Treat the property of The INN and our landlord with due care and caution, using resources sparingly and efficiently.
6. Work in accordance with and adhering to all provincial and federal legislations (i.e.: Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act, Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act)
7. Participate in the development and implementation of fund development strategy.
8. Lead engagement in community fundraising initiatives to establish a community events portfolio.
10. Coordinate speaking engagements for churches, service clubs, and schools to support and grow giving and community awareness.
11. Work closely with the Board of Directors and support Board members as they take on a more active fundraising role.
12. Work with staff to secure sponsorship and manage sponsor relations.
13. Establish and maintain relationships with donors and supporters.
14. Manage a database that includes data entry, record maintenance, and documentation.
15. Produce engaging content that builds trust and accurately communicates our work, impact, and organizational culture.
16. Assist in composing content for all social media platforms, and generally for fundraising campaigns, reports, and specialized donor content.
17. Maintain and update content on the website to optimize SEO, curate blog posts and implement lead generation strategies.
18. Assist in expanding The INN online presence.
19. Track the progress of the organization's social platforms to improve our brand awareness.
20. Assist in integrating all channels of fund development.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
1. Post-secondary degree or certificate in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or previous experience in a communications or social media role.
2. Exceptional writing and editing skills. Must have the ability to identify tone and style for effective messaging for diverse audiences, with attention to detail, phrasing, and word choice.
3. Excellent time-management skills, organized, and task-oriented, with an ability to respond in a timely fashion to donor inquiries and team communications.
4. A strong understanding of social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube) with enthusiasm for learning about newer platforms to develop opportunities to engage with online communities.
5. Experience in copywriting or graphic design is an asset.
6. Analytical skills that allow for understanding KPI measurement tools.
7. Working knowledge of content management software.
8. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Google Drive.
9. Proven ability to exercise diplomacy and good judgment.
10. Ability to work independently using strong initiative.
11. Ability to work as part of a team.
