**About the faculty/service**: Faculty of Medicine

**Position purpose**:
Reporitng to the Director, Financial Services, The incumbent organizes, leads and monitors all procurement supply chain activities for the Faculty of Medicine. Designs and implements strategies based on concepts and practices to meet the Faculty’s procurement needs. Manages issues with suppliers and partners by calculating risks, influencing, and negotiating in order to obtain the best possible results for the Faculty.

**In this role you will**:
Directs supply chain activities (planning, procurement, purchasing and logistics) for the Faculty: designs practices and procedures, monitors inventory levels, ensures that processes and systems are effective with the aim of supporting the Faculty in its strategic goals. Designs strategies to mitigate risks.

Manages and leads all activities involved in purchasing goods and services for the Faculty, including subcontracting, contract interpretation, negotiation, approvals, claims, modifications and delegations of signing authority, while ensuring that these activities comply with University policies, federal and provincial legislation, and funding agency guidelines.

Directs and supports all activities related to shipping and receiving, customs clearance, inventory management, and deliveries to provide high quality service. Manages risks involved in procuring dangerous goods.

Defines and maintains an organizational structure that meets operational requirements; hires, supervises, and evaluates the employees for whom the incumbent is responsible and ensures that these employees have the training and tools they need to effectively and efficiently perform their duties. Ensures the continuing professional development of employees. Applies human resources management procedures and regulations.

Manages the development, maintenance, and administration of the Faculty’s internal supply app (Medistore) Issues recommendations to further standardize, automate, and simplify operational processes according to industry trends and best practices. Acts as a consultant and change agent when implementing new systems.

Manages all Biobar* activities. Identifies, vets, and integrates new suppliers through business agreements. Manages relations with suppliers. Develops and monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) to generate optimal results for the Faculty and the research community.

**What you will bring**:
University degree in business administration, commerce, or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

At least 10 years in a similar role, preferably in supply chain management.

Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation (Ontario’s broader public sector, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), Bill 122, funding agencies and research sponsors; regulations for the Tri-Council, CFI, and other funding agencies

Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation on environmental health and safety (WHMIS, transportation of dangerous goods, radiation safety)

Knowledge of various legal and tax provisions, as well as compensation-related regulations and procedures

Knowledge of budget management principles and practices

Extensive experience in designing and implementing procedures, and in conflict resolution, negotiation, and project management
