About this Role

Directions Youth Services is a division of Family Services of Greater Vancouver (FSGV), which for more than 90 years has provided a variety of essential resources for children, families, and individuals in the Greater Vancouver community. We believe in the resiliency of Vancouver’s youth who are at-risk, homeless, and street-involved. We assist youth under the age of 25 to get counselling for trauma, mental health, or substance issues. Our teams strive to create spaces and build connections with youth who are facing challenges of street life, substance use, mental health concerns, and disconnection from their communities. Directions inclusive programs of shelter and drop-in, safe houses, and other unique programs are committed to being a community leader in harm reduction work and fostering low-barrier spaces where all youth are welcome.

**Salary**: $29.92 per hour (Grade 10 Step 1)

What you bring:
**Education, Training, Experience**
- Two-year post-secondary course/diploma in a related human/social service field
- One-year related experience with emphasis on homelessness, mental health, addictions, and/or social services
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Create rapport and trusting, non-judgmental relationships with youth in Safehouse.
- Attend appointments and activities with youth in the community.
- Attend and participate in community meetings and forums to ensure appropriate service provision for the youth accessing the Directions Youth Safehouse program
- Monitor individual service plans in collaboration with the youth, other service providers, and colleagues.
- Provide on-floor support at the Safehouse when required
- Maintain professional, positive relationships with community partners including MCFD, VACFSS, VHC, and other service providers.
- Maintain accurate logs, record keeping, and data entry related to youth files and statistics.
- Responsible for maintaining knowledge of current best practices and available resources.
- Ensure clear and concise communication and information transfer to colleagues, community service providers, and management including shift change.
- Knowledge of issues/needs of high-risk and/or street-involved youth including harm reduction and low barrier resources.
- Maintain current knowledge of issues, best practices, and available resources

**Additional Requirements**
- Successful completion of criminal record check
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s license
- Current First Aid, Food Safe Level 1, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certificates are an asset
- Proof of Covid-19 vaccination status will be required
