**ACCOUNTING MANAGER**

We are currently recruiting for an Accounting Manager for our Brooklyn, Queens County, NS Facility.

**Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the CFO your work will include, but not be limited to the following:
**Financial Operations and Transactions**:

- Managing key financial processes such as invoicing, accounts receivable, review of accounts payable, and regulatory compliance reporting within the accounting department. This role focuses on ensuring financial transactions and reporting are accurate, compliant, and timely.
- Conduct regular updates and reviews of financial transactions to ensure accuracy.
- Review payment updates and handle accounts receivable collections and reporting.
- Perform daily accounting tasks including reviewing accounts payable, invoicing, managing accounts receivable, and reviewing payroll entries.
- Assist in the monthly financial closing process, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and statements.
- Ensure that financial transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support the preparation and analysis of monthly financial reports.

**Regulatory Compliance and Reporting**:

- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with the documentation of financial procedures and controls.
- Support the annual audit process by providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports like excise tax filings, CTLS reports, and compliance with Health Canada requirements, review of HST filings.
- Ensure accurate and timely submission of insurance-related documents and reconciliations, such as for Blue Cross.

**Financial Reconciliation and Monthly Closings**:

- Review monthly bank reconciliations and prepare account reconciliations
- Assist in closing monthly accounts and preparing year-end financial statements.

**Budget Support**:

- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Report on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances.

**Financial Analysis and Reporting**:

- Assist in the creation of detailed financial reports and analysis.
- Help identify financial status by comparing and analyzing actual results with plans and forecasts.

**Communication and Coordination**:

- Regularly coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial operations run smoothly.
- Participate in meetings and provide updates on financial status and compliance.

**Special Projects**:

- Manage and contribute to special projects like IRAP filings and management of financial audits.
- Address ad hoc financial and administrative tasks as needed.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of accounting experience, specifically handling invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

**Skills**:

- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

**Work Conditions**:

- General office environment. / Work from home
- May require extended hours during financial closing periods or special projects.

**Other details**:
Location: A combination of in-office (Brooklyn, Queens Co and/or Bedford) and remote/work-from-home will be considered.

Compensation: To be determined based on skills and experience

Status and Hours: Permanent, 40hrs per week (day, evening and weekend shifts may be required)
