Creating the safe, sustainable municipal infrastructure that makes Toronto so livable is the responsibility of our
**Engineering and Construction Services (ECS) Division,** which provides specialized engineering design and construction services to Toronto Water, Transportation Services, Solid Waste Management Services and other
**City of Toronto **divisions, Agencies, Boards and Commissions, and external clients such as the development industry, utility companies and other public agencies.

As
**Coordinator, Issues Management - Capital Construction** within the
**Design and Construction** sections of Linear Underground Infrastructure and Major Infrastructure, you’ll play a key role in the success of the Division by devising and implementing all aspects of detailed relationship and issues management strategies and plans, and recommending tactics, policies and procedures regarding program-specific requirements.

With these tasks in mind, you'll conduct research into the assigned area, taking into account developments within the field, corporate policies and practices, legislation and initiatives by other levels of government, and integrate information from other stakeholder communication plans to ensure that messaging is consistent with the City's messaging on the projects. Your past successes in issues management and resolution will also have prepared you to resolve any conflicts between the various stakeholder communication plans, and handle inquiries, issues and challenges from staff, members of Council, and external stakeholders.

**A significant mandate with broad impact**

Responsible for supporting complex, high-profile municipal infrastructure construction projects through collaboration with stakeholders involved in the delivery of capital infrastructure planning and construction, you’ll develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with elected officials, local residents and businesses, and other stakeholders affected by such projects. Adept at managing sensitive, controversial and confidential matters, you’ll lead and/or participate in multiple stakeholder engagement groups or committees, provide communication support and services to Division-wide priority projects or initiatives involving organizational change, and liaise with management and divisional staff in coordinating responses to, and resolution of, construction-related issues.

**Developing and implementing issues resolution strategies**

Recognized for your sound professional judgement and strengths in conflict resolution and negotiation, you’ll make recommendations to senior divisional management to support management functions and improve efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery regarding issues coordination, escalation and resolution processes, and develop actionable strategies to improve performance and customer service. It will be your job to lead community engagement, issues management and coordination related to capital infrastructure works, uphold the City of Toronto's standards for public consultation by organizing and planning project events, public meetings, consultation and the public launch of the projects, as well as keep leadership and project leads informed of status updates, issues and opportunities.

**Improving issues resolution processes and quality of service**

Committed to identifying and promoting continuous improvements, you’ll develop and maintain monitoring systems to track issues, standards and procedures, and collect, analyze, and report on engagement trends, as well as conduct research on best practices and industry standards regarding issues management and resolution to improve quality of service. You'll also maintain a thorough knowledge of current corporate and other Division's issues and initiatives and operational issues related to the capital municipal infrastructure projects, enabling you to develop, update and maintain the Division’s Customer Service Standards and Guidelines, and support change management strategies to improve the Division's Relationship & Issues Management function.
