**The Role**
- This role supports the process of facilitating practicum, experiential learning and/or Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities for programs and students in the Faculty of Applied Community Studies. The position will perform a variety of operational management duties in order to recruit, assess, secure, and place students in community sites. Exceptional and consistent client-centered service will be provided to community members, faculty coordinators, faculty, students, internal employees, and other external stakeholder groups.**Responsibilities**
- 1.
- **Recruit Community Placement Sites**:
- a. Research community organizations and sites for student practicum and/or experiential learning opportunities in the Lower Mainland, via referrals, internet searches, and/or directly visiting and contacting sites.
b. Research and identify experiential learning opportunities/sites outside of the Lower Mainland, including rural and remote communities, for legislative requirements, location accessibility (transportation), and community demographics.
c. Identify, initiate and develop relationships with specific representatives from community sites to recruit new opportunities for program(s).
d. Using a pre-determined tool, assess appropriateness from community sites requesting students for experiential learning placements.
e. Assist with creating and maintaining marketing and recruitment information materials for potential sites explaining practicum and/or experiential learning requirements/outcomes.
f. Prepare and send information packages to community sites using various formats (i.e. electronic, mail).
g. Develop materials and facilitate presentations about the College, program(s), and experiential learning requirements to potential community sites.
h. Assist faculty team in developing, maintaining, and disseminating relevant information to onboard and orient new community sites and supervisors on student learning needs.
i. Liaise with internal administrative departments to ensure necessary legal agreements are established and are current.2.
- **Assess and Secure Placement Sites**:
- a. Research and stay informed on current legislative, accreditation and/or licensing requirements in relation to the sector and future employability for graduates.
b. Visit sites to observe, record notes, and assess suitability for student placements based on specific criteria set by the program learning outcomes, as well as health and safety requirements.
c. Contact existing sites each semester to canvas and/or confirm availability to host students.
d. Work collaboratively with faculty team to match students to available sites by providing feedback and recommendations based on observations, assessments, and student/site needs.
e. Train and maintain skills to use specialized portals required by external agencies for practicum placements.
f. Maintain communication and positive relationships with sites to ensure placement retention.
g. Identify concerns regarding practicum sites and work collaboratively with faculty coordinators and key stakeholders for solutions.
h. Prepare and send recognition and/or tokens of appreciation to sites that hosted students.

- **Support Placement Preparation for Students and/or Sites**
- a. Regularly inquire and maintain current information regarding site requirements (i.e. immunization records, safety precautions, dress code).
b. Using established privacy protection procedures, administer, collect and manage forms, documents and other information required from the sites and the students for placement matching.
c. Develop content and communicate relevant administrative requirements to students during seminars or meetings.
d. Order and distribute College items for students (i.e. nametags, branded clothing, health and safety equipment).
e. Create and send separate versions of pre-practicum information packages, one for host sites and one for students, to prepare for the placement.
f. Support student inquiries about course requisites, course selection and registration for practicum courses.
g. Follow up on student inquiries about Work Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunities and refer to faculty coordinator as needed.
h. Work collaboratively with faculty team to problem solve practicum placement issues due to site or student circumstances.4.
