**Role**:
This position is situated within the HHR Applied Research and Education Unit (HHRARE). It is responsible for working collaboratively, effectively, and efficiently to accomplish Unit/Branch/Division and Department goals as outlined within internal business and operational plans, while striving to live by the Department's vision, mission and values.

Reporting to the Director, and working in collaboration with colleagues within the Unit and Branch, this position is responsible for gathering HHR data and information from multiple sources, provincially, nationally and internationally. The information is then analyzed, interpreted and presented in oral and written format for use by the Unit/Branch/Division/Department, thereby giving internal and external stakeholders the most current information required to understand HHR changes and trends. This position provides leadership and expert knowledge to internal and external partners and stakeholders to support informed decisions regarding HHR. This position has responsibility for collaborating with internal and external partners to identify and prioritize specific issues and opportunities that support meeting provincial HHR needs.

In addition, the position provides leadership in managing grant funding related to HHR programs and projects as requires.

**Responsibilities**:

- Unit/Branch/Division/Department leaders have sufficient information, to make policy decisions regarding issues and trends in Alberta's HHR and to facilitate HHR planning.
- The Unit/Branch/Division/Department staff and leadership have updated HHR semi-annual 'Fact Sheets', as at the end of quarter two and quarter four. These provide detailed information regarding the number of regulated health care professionals there are in Alberta, professions' demographics, distribution, FTE status, data about education programs (enrollees and graduates), etc. It also provides an accurate description of the role of each profession. The Fact Sheets provide a comparison reference to the numbers of health care professionals in other provinces. Aside from physician workforce, these Fact Sheets are a Department 'source of truth' as to the state of HHR.
- Unit/Branch/Division/Department leadership have sufficient information and analysis to understand external organizations' HHR reports; for example, CIHI's reports and Labour's Outlook Reports.

**Qualifications**:
A **University Degree** in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Health, Human Resource management, Policy or in a related field supplemented with a minimum of **four (4) years** of recent and directly related experience is **required**.

**Required **experience includes:

- Experiences working with data research and data management
- Ability to analyze quantitative data using Excel or statistical software (SAS), evaluate research and statistical techniques, and interpret results.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel knowledge
- Knowledge of Alberta's Health Professions Act and Regulations, and its health workforce
- Experience within the Alberta Health Care system
- Experience in Health or Public Sector

The following experience is considered an **asset**:

- Master’s Degree in a related field

Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
