SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Foreman of Information Technology, the Network and Security Administrator is responsible for functions involving the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all network infrastructure and security appliances for all MPSD sites. The Network and Security Administrator communicates, and conducts business with third party vendors, SBO administration, Principals, and other staff on networking and security needs and plans.

The work involves the performance of a variety of technical tasks under limited supervision or in accordance with clearly established policies, procedures, regulations and/or codes. Judgment is exercised in handling new assignments and determining new work methods with exceptions referred to the Foreman of Information Technology. The job requires the development of procedures. As incumbents become more familiar with District policies, procedures, and regulations, they will perform their duties with increased independence. Work is performed on-site and in the service workshop.

**Duties include, but are not limited to**:
Configuration and monitoring of a multi-site enterprise level WAN, including planning, implementation/expansion, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Design, deploy, and administer the wired infrastructure and supporting systems. (Cisco and Dell switching infrastructure)

Installing, administering, and troubleshooting network security devices.

Design, deploy, and administer the wireless infrastructure and supporting systems.

Maintain and troubleshoot all DNS and SSL Certificate issues for MPSD systems.

Complete all recommended upgrades and patches with the latest security patches and ensuring the proper defenses are present on all network and security equipment.

Performing vulnerability and penetration tests, identifying, and defending against threats, and developing disaster recovery plans.

Monitoring network traffic for suspicious behavior.

Creating network policies and authorization roles and defending against unauthorized access, modifications, and destruction.

Manage the mobile device management system, AirWatch MDM, for district devices including iPads and cellphones.

Plan, deploy, and maintain new VoIP phones and phone systems to district sites.

Plan, deploy, and maintain all UPS battery backup solutions for systems and network infrastructure.

Consult with staff, managers, and directors about security best practices and providing technical advice.

Prepare and maintain documentation of security policies, network configurations and cabling layouts.

Work with the Ministry of Education and the OCIO to ensure that all security-based recommendations are being implemented in the district.

Work with the Systems Administrator on joint IT projects and tasks.

Performs other related duties as it relates to this position

**Required Qualifications**:
A bachelor’s degree in computer information systems or equivalent from a recognized technical college or university.

A Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification is an asset.

**Required Experience**:
Four (4) years of related work experience.

**Required Skills and Abilities**:
Knowledge and ability to install and configure current computer hardware, software, networking systems and servers

Knowledge of the regulations and codes, standard practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in the position

Knowledge of proper safety practices and the demonstrated ability to work in a manner that recognizes personal safety and the safety of others

Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with all internal and external contacts, demonstrates a helpful and pleasant manner in dealing with others

Proven ability to express ideas effectively both orally and in writing, ability to explain instruction or information clearly to others

Knowledge of technical drawings, schematic diagrams and blueprints as related to this position

Ability to work in a cooperative team situation, aiding co-workers as required

Ability to plan, coordinate and estimate work in an orderly manner and see the assignments through to completion
