**Job Description**:
What you can expect in a typical day:
As a Junior Indirect Tax Analyst, you will be part of a team responsible for Indirect Tax compliance in various jurisdictions. If you have strong basic skills in finance and accounting along with an interest in tax, we will train you on the tax portion of this role. Using your keen willingness to learn and significant prioritization skills, you will work with other members of the Indirect Tax Team to ensure Irving Oil is compliant with its Indirect Tax obligations in each of the jurisdictions it operates in. This includes filing timely, accurate returns as well as interacting with jurisdictional tax authorities to resolve queries on indirect tax compliance issues. You know how to manage your time effectively to meet firm deadlines. Your communication skills help you interact with customers, team members and other members of the company to meet our goals and objectives.

What you’ll need to succeed:

- Tax License Management (manage license database)
- Managing Native Status Cards database
- Support Tax Payment Remittances (as required)
- Supporting the issuance and collection of exemption certificates from customers and to vendors
- Month End Reporting to prepare for the tax return cycle, running trial balances, etc.
- Other support duties as required such as sorting and distributing mail for tax department for example.
- Research and provide responses to queries from other parts of the company and legislative jurisdictions.
- Assist with indirect tax assessment rebuttal initiatives and related analysis and investigation.
- Support other indirect tax compliance projects and work with the business on other projects or new requests or developments.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Travel
- Travel will not be a requirement of this role.

Education and experience
- Post-secondary training in business or accounting.
- 1-3 years of experience in tax or accounting.
- Strong Excel skills; VLOOKUPS, pivot tables, formulas, etc.
- Experience using financial reporting systems.
