The Safety and Training Manager plays a pivotal role in the design and maintenance of our safety policies and procedures, ensuring that all comply with regulatory requirements, as well as meet or exceed industry standards. The Safety and Training Manager represents C.S. Day Transport as an OHS committee member and develops committee agendas, records and distributes meeting minutes and chairs most meetings. The position is also integral to completing monthly inspections, maintaining records and safety equipment on-site, and investigates health and safety related complaints and workplace accidents.

The Safety and Training Manager is also accountable for overseeing incident reporting and completes investigations for C.S. Day Transport, manages tracking systems and protocols for trucks operating in inclement weather, creates emergency plans and oversees emergency and fire safety drills. The position is critical for the management of safety equipment, training and the monitoring of use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and the C.S. Day Transport inventory.

This position participates in the selection, recruitment, and onboarding of new drivers, as well as leads the driver training responsibilities and accountabilities for the C.S. Day Transport organization, including the development and implementation of training materials for all drivers, including CFA certification, ethanol training, long combination vehicle certification and central tire inflation courses. The Safety and Training Manager ensures all C.S. Day Transport drivers and driver trainers meet the expectations and standards of our organization.
