**AGADA Overview**

AGADA is a contract research organization (CRO) providing specialized services to pharmaceutical and biotech companies. Unlike most CROs, AGADA provides services in niche areas of research that require further standardization. Our mission is to facilitate and accelerate drug development for rare diseases, serving an internation clientele. Key to accomplishing this mission is training and retaining a highly skilled workforce in Nova Scotia. We offer both preclinical drug efficacy studies and clinical (human) trial drug development support services. AGADA has performed over 100 drug efficacy studies in murine models of muscular dystrophy and has supported >50 Phase I/II clinical efficacy studies (Duchene, Becker, ALS, DM1).

**Research Associate**

**(In Vivo)**
- Participation with laboratory team to carry out experimental projects for pre-clinical studies carefully following standard operating procedures in all work.
- Participation in research and validation studies with a strong focus on _in vivo _tasks.
- Animal receipt/health checks/ dissection/ freezing/ blood collection.
- Breeding and training colony oversight.
- Drug administration (oral gavage, intraperitoneal, intravenous techniques, subcutaneous).
- Functional testing:

- In vitro, in vivo, in situ muscle force
- Exhaustion
- Grip strength
- Rota Rod
- IVIS imaging
- Echocardiography
- Sample preparation (tissue sectioning, aliquoting, sera/plasma separation, etc,).
- Prepares written scientific reports and delivers scientific presentations.
- Accurate record maintenance and analysis of all data.
- Assistance in animal protocol comprehension, writing, and submission.
- Standard Operating Procedure writing.
- Data Analysis.
- Participates in weekly general laboratory discussions with fellow staff and management.
- Participates in trial-focused QC meetings.
- Molecular and histological research work if required.
- Schedules and prepares samples for shipment to Sponsor/Vendors.
- Support to maintaining lab organization, receiving orders, updating reagents and sample inventory management.
- Assists with the temperature monitoring of the refrigerating systems if needed
