London, Canada Middlesex-London Health Unit Full time

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Public Health Inspector to work on the Safe Water, Rabies & Vector Borne Disease (SWRVBD) team in the Environmental Health and Infectious Diseases division located at Citi Plaza, London Ontario. This position may be assigned to multiple work locations in the future.
- Deliver comprehensive environmental health programs in the community including Safe Water Rabies and Vector Borne Disease program work which may include, but is not limited to: recreational water facility inspections, drinking water systems, animal bite investigations and other rabies control work;
- Other duties may include food premises inspections, special event inspections and other special projects;
- Provide coverage and client service in all EH program work which includes participation in office duty work, evening shift coverage and on-call weekends; and,
- Participate in other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- A four-year Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Environmental Health;
- Certification as a Public Health Inspector by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors CIPHI(C);
- Working knowledge of Provincial Legislation concerning Public Health and the Ontario Public Health Standards, Protocols and Guideline;
- Valid Ontario Driver's License and access to reliable transportation;
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office and database software (Hedgehog), and strong documentation skills;
- Effective communication skills and the ability to influence and de-escalate complex and/or challenging situations in a calm and professional manner;
- Previous experience in SWRVBD program work;
- Health promotion skills, and experience in enforcement of legislation is a strong asset; and,
- Communication proficiency (written and verbal) in French and/or any other language is highly desirable.
