The in-office role of the Manager, West Highway Dispatch is to ensure the Western Highway Fleet is performing at the highest level possible. You will accomplish this through measuring KPI’s, analyzing KPI’s and coaching for success. The direct team includes Fleet (People) Managers, Dispatchers and our Drivers. You will uphold corporate policy, procedure, direction and culture; ensuring program objectives/goals are met. Through consultation with the Director, West Highway Operations you will allocate and arrange the necessary resources.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Providing new and existing staff including company drivers and owner operators with the structure for day-to-day management and ensuring education, information, tools, training and support required to perform duties and carry out programs is provided.
- Involved in day to day management, promotion and initiation of corporate productivity initiatives.
- Researching, compiling, developing and generating reports in all areas of responsibilities as required internally and for regulatory reporting purposes. This involves collecting data, analyzing data, identifying current and future issues and providing solutions.
- Due to the interdependent nature of departments and programs, the Manager provides support, response and involvement in issues that affect Operations, including drivers and owner operators, by ensuring open lines of communication are maintained with other departments and sharing of information is encouraged.
- Ensuring the Western Operations Team is operating at optimal efficiency in all aspects of generating and executing the day to day business. This is accomplished by monitoring, understanding and influencing service levels - late shipments reporting, client specific levels of service monitoring, situational involvement and leadership, systems analysis and development. Balance/Volume Analysis

- 3-5 years in a similar leadership role managing day-to-day operations. Transportation industry would be considered an asset.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to track and lead departmental KPIs.

- Strong leadership skills: team-work, delegation.
- Strong organizational skills: time management, project planning, multi-tasking.

- Experience and knowledge of safety and compliance rules and regulations.
- Progressive knowledge of the transportation industry including competition and trends.
