**Skills and Qualifications**
- At least **2 (two) years of experience in truck dispatching is required.**:

- **Expert-level communication (written & verbal)**:

- **Excellent intermediary computer skills.**:

- Time management to ensure deliveries are made on schedule.
- Working knowledge of products hauled, regulations, and temperature requirements.
- Knowledge of highway trucking and associated rules and regulations.

**Education and Experience Requirements**
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Clean driving record.
- **Previous experience in a leadership capacity.**

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Schedule equipment and drivers to perform daily workload.
- Coordination and scheduling of Dispatch Team’s schedule.
- Book and schedule all delivery and pickup appointments.
- Promote efficient utilization of both driving personnel and equipment through continual knowledge of their location and availability.
- Recognize the importance of maintaining contact between branch offices to maximize the total company fleet.

Promote effective communications between the dispatch office and all other departments.

Develop a working knowledge of all products hauled as well as all regulations and operating authorities pertinent to the company's operations.

Verify on an ongoing basis that the safest considerations and practices are present in all dispatch activities.
- Ensure that drivers selected to be dispatched will still be following the National Safety Code Standards and Hours of Service Regulations.
- Notify customers of delivery issues promptly
- Manage all drivers’ hours limiting non profitable hours or empty miles
- Manage all drivers’ holidays ensuring driver coverage (annual approval is completed with the Operations Supervisor)
- Book and schedule all delivery and pickup appointments
- Operate computer-aided communications and dispatching equipment
- Sort and confirm all POD as drivers complete their days ensuring **no missing POD’s**:

- Ready all paperwork to send to invoicing making sure all paperwork is complete with **no missing POD’s**:

- Fill out all Frozen Solid delivery receipts when needed
- Follow-up with any pickup or delivery issues
- Work closely with Edmonton and Lethbridge ensuring no missed pickups or deliveries
- Work closely with warehouse workers to communicate movement of all freight
- Communicate with Safety and Fleet Manager to ensure equipment availability for maintenance and inspections
- Promote positive driver attitude by:

- Distributing the workload equitably based on demand, capability, availability, and seniority of drivers
- Assigning trips in accordance with company policies and procedures as they relate to applicable government regulations
- Transferring complete information to the drivers regarding all details about each trip to ensure that drivers do not encounter unfamiliar facilities, routes, procedures, etc. that could lead to the possibility of an accident or product claims
- Passing on recognition to the drivers for commendable service or performance or both

Promote sound customer relations by:

- Conducting liaison with customers in a friendly and businesslike manner,
- Keeping adequately informed about trip details to be able to inform the customer of any unexpected circumstances which may affect completion of the trip as scheduled
- Accepting customer product claims courteously, directing them to the terminal manager for prompt handling and being familiar with the details of the resulting settlement or disposition
- Be alert to unsafe conditions and acts and take immediate and appropriate corrective action should it be necessary
- Always set a good example in the areas of safety and ensure that actions are consistent with company requirements. This consistency will help maintain the workers interest in safety,
- Ensure that legislated requirements and company policies are being complied with using regular inspections
- Dispatch the drivers and equipment in a manner that will uphold the company's high standards of customer service. Also maintain the respect and confidence of our customers and drivers
- Advise drivers of traffic, weather, and other problems
- Support all office staff when needed
- Generate ongoing ideas for overall efficiencies, system changes, and policy changes
