- 35**About the Position**
- The Centre for Teaching, Learning and Innovation’s Learning Café is seeking an energetic individual with a strong background in math, science, and learning strategies to join its Academic Strategist team. Reporting to the Integrated Supports Coordinator, this role contributes to a vast learning support network within the CTLI and other student-centered support services by supporting students with the development of foundational academic strategies and supporting faculty through the creation and delivery of tools and learning activities.
- Academic Strategists play an integral role in student and faculty support at Lethbridge Polytechnic. By directly supporting an academically diverse student population with the development of foundational math and science skills and academic strategies, learner retention and success are enhanced. By directly supporting faculty, through the creation and delivery of tools and learning activities, the student learning experience is enhanced. This role creates an integral and direct link with both students and faculty, focusing on the implementation of universal design for learning (UDL) principles.

- Direct student face-to-face learning appointments (online or in person) that reinforce foundational skills and content
- Collaborate with CTLI team members, faculty, and Student Affairs to enhance learning experiences through projects and professional development sessions
- Act as an integrated academic specialist within courses to deliver workshops, presentations, coaching on learning strategies, and mentoring students
- Support the development of student core competencies

**Direct Student Support**
- coaching on effective academic learning strategies and study practices;
- reinforcing and clarifying foundational academic skills or content in science and math;
- coaching on the effective incorporation of technologies to support learning activities;
- mentoring at-risk students;
- supporting the development of student core competencies;
- supporting student development of complex skills, such as professionalism, leadership, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Contributing content for the E-Learning Café website with a variety of Open Education Resources (OERs) to support student success.
- Maintaining detailed data tracking of all academic student supports.

**Integrated Academic Strategist**
- Fulfill the role of an Integrated Academic Strategist in courses to strategically develop and deliver a variety of sessions related to science and math academic strategies; learning technologies; Universal Design for Learning (UDL); foundational academic skills; student core competencies; and varied other topics.
- Maintaining detailed data tracking of all academic student supports.

**Collaborative projects and activities**
- Contribute to and/or lead collaborative projects and activities with other Lethbridge Polytechnic areas (e.g., International Student Services, Indigenous Student Services, LCSA, Kodiaks Athletics, Student Affairs, Academic Advising, other CTLI departments, etc.) as well as external community partners.
- Organizing and completing miscellaneous duties to support departmental operations, activities, and initiatives; and/or actively developing and sharing expertise through professional development activities and participation in meetings and committees as required.

**Mentorship and training**
- Collaborates with CTLI team members to mentor, lead, and train peer supports and student employees at Lethbridge Polytechnic (e.g. Peer writing tutors, peer tutors, peer mentors, etc.).

- Partake in a model of shared leadership to build institutional memory and create co-ownership over aspirational goals and strategies; therefore, we can learn, innovate, and perform better.
