**Reporting Relationship**
The Child & Youth Mental Health & Addiction Worker Under will work under the general guidance of the Mental Health and Addictions Clinic Manager and Health Services Department Manager the Child & Youth Mental Health & Addiction Worker will collaborate with all health team members, community agencies and the general public.
**Position Summary**
The aim of the service is to provide supportive counselling to M’Chigeeng children and youth to support their wholistic well-being. The position will further contribute toward capacity building opportunities within the community’s Health Centre program and services, as well as with the children/youth and families.

- disciplinary professionals. The services of the Child and Youth Mental Health & Addictions Worker are to strengthen a widening circle of care responsive to the needs of each young person. Services are both community and school based, working with teachers, school counsellors, principals and parents.
**Essential Functions**
- Provide one-on-one mental health and addiction counselling services to children and youth ages six to eighteen (less one day);
- Working in schools on a regular basis;
- Promote optimal health and well-being through health prevention and promotion
- Provide parent consultations;
- Conduct intake, assessment, treatment planning and discharge with children and youth;
- Liaise, advocate and refer children and youth to other relevant and appropriate services;
- Develop and implement community-based programs that address the needs of community members;
- Maintain a case management system with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) database ;
- Printing of charting information as approved by clients and/or their guardians within the M’Chigeeng First Nation
- community charts;
- Compilation and completion of all reports as required by funders
- Membership with and adherence to guidelines of professional counselling association;
- Adherence to traditional protocols and cultural sensitivity to M’Chigeeng First Nation where services are provided;
- Adherence to the guidelines of M’Chigeeng First Nation policies and procedures;
- Complete relevant professional development as provided by First Nation, and/or the Ministry of Health - Mental Health & Addictions sector;
- Develop and implement the delivery of workplan initiatives
- Provide client needs assessments and develop treatment plans based on results of assessment
- Provide Trauma Informed Care program as required
- Provide appropriate referrals to other services or treatment programs
- Provide aftercare services and support for clients
- Maintain a case management system utilizing the Electronic Medical Record system
- Participate client in intake and case management reviews
- Ensure professional competence by seeking consultation and effective use of clinical supervision
- Coordinate and deliver ongoing Community Education Workshops
- Work with other community services providers to ensure consistent support and awareness to community programs involved in Mental Health and Addictions Services initiatives
- Monitor, participate and evaluate results of workshops for enhancements/improvements and include solutions and recommendations in report submissions annually
- Promote working relationships and partnerships with existing community programs, services, and external First Nations organizations
- Ensures compliance of MFN Personnel, Finance and Administrative policies and procedures
- Participates in professional development opportunities for skills improvement and program enhancement as advised by the Department Manager
**Qualifications and Requirements Preferred**
- University Degree in Social Services/Addictions field of study and two (2) years relevant work experience
- Extensive work/volunteer experience in the coordination of workshops and seminars within a Native organization/community is a strong asset
- Four (4) year relevant Post-Secondary Degree in social work, preferred
- Three (3) years’ clinical service experience
- Currently registered or eligible to be registered with a relevant regulatory Training in ASIST and Mental Health First Aid & Safe Talk, preferred
- Valid and current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check (current 30 days, original/certified copy)
**Minimum**
- College Diploma in Child & Youth Work, Social Services or related field of study (i.e. Addictions & Mental Health Diploma) and/or lived experience and knowledge
- Three to five (3 - 5) years of work-related experience in the field of mental health and/or addictions Knowledge and skills in mental health, alcohol and/or drugs addictions awareness and prevention Excellent Public Speaking and Facilitation Skills
