Cultural Ambassador

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Culture & Language Facilitator to join our team at M'Chigeeng First Nation. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating culture and language programming for the community, including seeking out language speakers, Elders, and Traditional Knowledge Keepers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate culture and language programming for M'Chigeeng First Nation.
• Seek out language speakers, Elders, and Traditional Knowledge Keepers for ongoing learning and Traditional Healing Opportunities.
• Provide opportunities for community members to learn and utilize this learning meaningfully.
• Assist in program development from an Indigenous lens.
• Ensure Traditional Medicines are available, cared for, and stored properly.
• Engage with community members and assess needs accordingly.

Requirements:

• Completion of Grade 12, plus an additional post-secondary program of up to one year in a First Nations field of study.
• Evidence of recent facilitation experience in Anishinaabe traditions, history, and culture.
• Current WHIMIS CPR & First Aid Certifications or willingness to acquire.
• Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of Addictions and Mental Health challenges.
• Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
• Effective writing and communication skills.
• Strong Knowledge of Anishinabek culture, traditions, and practices.
