**About the role**:
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a **Regular full-time** **Technical Specialist, Antibody Investigation** to join our dynamic **Testing** team.

The **Testing** is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by testing, investigating and performing procedures. In this role, you will co-ordinate the daily testing activities and perform procedures following work instructions related to the Antibody testing laboratory.

**Formula for success**:

- Performs and ensures appropriate performance of related quality control/quality assurance activities.
- Performs, verifies and documents routine maintenance and verification procedures of laboratory equipment in accordance with approved work instructions and regulatory requirements.
- Provides technical guidance to the Medical Laboratory Technologists in the resolution of patient and donor investigations.
- Provides training, performs competency assessments and ensures adherence to work instructions for testing processes and procedures.
- The Technical Specialist maintains technical competency, promotes continuous learning and facilitates and/or participates in on-going related quality improvement activities or special projects.

**Desired education and skills**:

- Certified general Medical Laboratory Technologist with Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and professional college, College of Medical Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO)).
- Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferable a University degree such as BSc, ART, SBB
- Two to five years of related transfusion laboratory experience required including 6 months of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
- Two to five years’ experience in red cell antibody investigation
- Previous hospital laboratory experience in Transfusion medicine an asset.
- Previous GMP experience preferred.
- Must demonstrate an understanding and working knowledge of Transfusion Medicine principles, procedures, instrumentation and how they interrelate.
- Must have ability to work independently and as a member of the team.
- Must be able to function effectively under pressure in a fast-paced work environment
- Demonstrated analytical problem solving and decision-making skills required.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, communication and staff development skills required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English are essential, including the ability to convey understanding of factual and theoretical information and make recommendations to customers.
- Effective time management and organizational skills
- Strong detail orientation and analytical ability to evaluate and ensure accuracy of data related to laboratory results and donor/patient information.
