**Status**: Full-time, Contract (1 year)

**Shift start**: Afternoon Shift - 4pm -12pm

**Location**: Hamilton Plant

**Job Scope**:
Reporting to the Quality Control Supervisor, the scope of this position involves ensuring the production process meets superior food safety systems (HACCP) and quality standards from entry of raw materials into the facility, to the processing of goods, to shipment of finished product.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Conduct equipment and environmental swabbing
- Perform line checks throughout the manufacturing and packaging process
- Prepare samples, media and buffers used for daily analysis
- Perform chemical and microbiological testing of dairy products
- Generate test results with a high level of accuracy and reliability
- Produce reports and computer data entry of various information for the purpose of maintaining accurate records
- Maintain laboratory equipment and maintain cleanliness within the lab
- Work closely with production staff in the areas of sanitation, hygiene, GMPs and related necessary training
- Has complete authority to stop the manufacture of food if any unsafe conditions are encountered or the quality of the product might be compromised
- Reports to the Manager/Supervisor, QC any issues or barriers encountered in the accomplishments of duties above
- Complete tasks in a timely manner
- Other duties as assigned by Management

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum two (2) years of experience in the food industry
- Bachelor of Science Degree or Diploma in Microbiology or Food Science
- Knowledge of microbiological procedures and autoclaving techniques an asset
- Knowledge of HACCP, SQF, GMPs and Food Security an asset
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Solid analytical skills and process improvement driven
- Strong computer skills, including Windows and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Adaptable and flexible to work overtime hours, including weekends and the occasional day shift for coverage within the department as needed
- Valid G License required a must; or reliable source of transportation for occasional travel to other plants as needed
