The Recreation Programming Division is responsible for the provision of programs and leisure opportunities for all age groups and abilities year-round. The Division promotes healthy lifestyles and works with individuals and community groups in the provision of recreation services.

The **Early Childhood Educator **assists in the planning and facilitation of program activities in a licensed preschool setting; monitors the work of preschool support workers; provides input and suggestions on lesson plans and outdoor activities to the preschool and early years supervisor.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**
- Grade 12 or equivalency;
- Early Childhood Education Certificate from a recognized educational institution;
- Current Child Safe or Safety Oriented First Aid-Emergency Level-Childcare and CPR-C;
- Current Criminal Record Clearance;
- Eligible for Early Childhood Educators of BC membership;
- Some (1 year) experience in preschool teaching;
- Sound knowledge of the Child Care Licensing Act;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Leadership skills and abilities to provide and promote positive values and early childhood development;
- Ability to deal tactfully with sensitive issues concerning children;
- Ability to work well as a member of a team;
- Physical ability to frequently lift preschool children and equipment such as tables and chairs.

This is a regular, full time, 10 months/year position. The current hourly wage rate is **$ 30.21** based on a 35-hour work week. Hours of work are generally 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
