**INVEST OTTAWA - MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS**

**WHY THIS ROLE**:
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Strategist, Global Expansion is an integral part of Invest Ottawa’s (IO) Marketing and Communications team with the primary responsibility of supporting IO’s Global Expansion team. In this role, the Marketing Strategist, Global Expansion, will be responsible for the development, management and execution of communications and marketing strategies, plans, and activities. The role also includes oversight of public relations coordination and content development to strategically meet the marketing and communications objectives for the Global Expansion team.

**WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING**:

- Developing and maintaining a consistent brand strategy and integrity for the Global Expansion programs and sub brands including talent;
- Developing and executing on creative communications and marketing strategies, plans, events and activities;
- Managing and/or overseeing daily client-facing communications content and key messaging including for social media channels;
- Public relations coordination and content development for items relating to Global Expansion team, foreign missions, visiting delegations and talent programing and events;
- Public relations coordination, content development and development of program promotional storytelling vehicles for Global Expansion programs;
- Government relations including responding to ad hoc communications requests and drafting responses to federal and provincial government inquiries including briefing documents, speaking notes and key messages;
- Developing and maintaining communications activities, processes and vehicles, with a goal on ease of execution;
- Coordinating follow-up on all marketing and communications requests;
- Developing and maintaining strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders within the Business Retention and Expansion (BRE), Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and talent ecosystems;
- Ensuring alignment and efficiencies of user experience marketing for Global Expansion programs;
- Representing Invest Ottawa on Consider Canada City Alliance (CCCA) Communications Committee;
- Providing consultation on industry specific and investment related issues and messaging for use in media relations;
- Promoting consistent communications to internal audiences and leadership on cross-functional efforts;
- Developing and maintaining consistent dashboards to monitor traction and engagement of marketing efforts and metrics;
- Contributing to the marketing and communications team more broadly;
- Experience managing staff and students is highly desired;
- Other duties as required and requested by the manager.

**WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/ GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER**:

- Bachelor's degree or certificate in marketing communications/journalism, PR, advertising or a related field or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience working in a communications/marketing role
- Previous experience marketing economic development, FDI or expansion programs;
- Ability to juggle many deadlines with complex and competing deliverables;
- Excellent verbal and superior writing and editing skills;
- Strong creativity and understanding of the creative development process;
- Ability to multitask and manage a diverse array of projects and tight deadlines;
- Bachelor's degree or certificate in marketing communications/journalism, PR, advertising or a related field
- Understanding of the complexities of federal and provincial government departments;
- French communications skills are considered a strong asset;
- Previous experience with Canva, Dynamics and ClickDimensions are also considered strong assets.
