**VP, Corporate Affairs**

Reporting to the CEO, the position of VP, Corporate Affairs will lead Innovation Asset Collective’s (IAC’s) relationships and communications with all external parties and partnerships. Their focus will be on ensuring IAC’s relationships are built on mutual respect and long-term sustainability.

These relationships include, but are not limited to, Government Institutions, Crown Corporations, IAC members and Intermediaries such as Incubators, Accelerators and Partners.

This opportunity is part of a virtual team, working from home, with meetings in-person with external contacts. It is a 12-month term position with the option to renew.

**Key Responsibilities include**:

- Evolve existing and foster new relationships with officials, elected representatives and key contacts within government departments to further IAC’s reach and reputation as a valued partner within Canadian IP ecosystem.
- Stay abreast, and involved where applicable, of relevant government initiatives and programs.
- Evolve, help grow and lead a team who operationalize IACs Membership Enrollment & Engagement Strategy for Member organizations.
- Lead the ownership and execution of Membership Advisory Council.
- Develop strategies to measure and track our members’ successes as it relates to their IAC membership.
- Lead and own our membership agreements, membership enrollment goals
- Negotiate and finalize Member Participation Agreements.
- Lead strategy and relationships with our channel partners, research institutes and venture partners.
- Work with industry groups such as innovation accelerators, incubators, and post-secondary institutions to extend the reach of IAC’s efforts to build IP capacity
- Oversee a team to develop communications and marketing strategy and materials for external stakeholders
- As a member of our Senior Leadership Team, provide a voice of our members, working closely with the team to promote a high-performance culture and collaborative team environment within IAC

**Required education and experience**
- Post-secondary education is preferred
- Experience in Government/Public/Not-For-Profit space
- Experience working with intermediaries, providing influence while collaborating successfully
- Experience in patent policy work or related work is an asset
- 10+ years’ experience building and leading teams and organizations

Innovative Asset Collective (IAC) is a not-for-profit organization designed to assist Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the data
- driven clean technology sector to better leverage IP in order to grow and scale. Specifically, IAC assembles promising portfolios of patents, which are licensed to members to boost their patent portfolio and secure freedom to operate; IAC also educates, advises and helps members to develop their IP strategy. By securing freedom to operate, it allows members to spend more on R&D and less on licensing. This allows SMEs to be more competitive, acquire more customers, attract more funding, and scale quickly, which retains profits and skills in Canada.

**V.P., Affaires corporatives**

Ces relations comprennent, mais sans s’y limiter, les institutions gouvernementales, les sociétés d’État ainsi que les membres et les intermédiaires du CAI, comme les incubateurs, les accélérateurs et les partenaires.

Ce poste se situe dans une équipe virtuelle dont les membres travaillent à domicile, avec quelques réunions en personnes avec des intervenants externes. Il s’agit d’un poste d’une durée déterminée de 12 mois avec possibilité de renouvellement.

**Principales responsabilités**:

- Favoriser le développement des relations existantes et la création de nouvelles relations avec des fonctionnaires, des représentants élus et des personnes-ressources clés des ministères gouvernementaux afin de promouvoir le rayonnement et la réputation du CAI à titre de précieux partenaire de l’écosystème canadien de la PI.
- Se tenir au courant des initiatives et des programmes gouvernementaux et, le cas échéant, y participer.
- Favoriser la formation et la croissance d’une équipe chargée de mettre en œuvre la stratégie de sollicitation et de mobilisation des membres du CAI pour les organisations membres, et diriger cette équipe.
