**Hickory Creek Childcare is looking for a support person to assist in our preschool program.**

Educational Assistants provide support to students to achieve success in academic, behavior, social, life skills and co-op situations. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, Educational Assistants contribute to the learning development and integration of all students by creating a safe and supportive environment.

Educational Assistant positions can be physically demanding positions. Position requirements may include, providing students with assistance for toileting, transferring, positioning and redirection as required. Educational Assistants are on a 1:1 ratio and would be hired to assist the other educators in the group.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Foster healthy child development in children.
- Daily supervision of children
- Provide feedback to parents on daily basis.
- Assist with meal preparation and cleanup.
- Abide by policies and guidelines that are defined in the Staff Handbook and Hickory Creek Policies and Procedures.
- Assist other staff in the development and implementation of daily and weekly activities and program specials.

**Qualifications**:

- Experience with children with ASD and extra behaviours
- Child Care Worker, Nurse, Child and Youth Worker, EA, ECE diplomas an asset
- A current Vulnerable Sector Check from the Regional police (within the last 5 months)
- Current CPR/ First Aid Certification
- A passion for working with children
- Strong interpersonal skills to gain trust and respect of children and their parents
- The ability to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Fluent oral and written English language communication skills;
- Skilled at working both independently and within a team context.
- Ability to handle the stress and the high mental demands of working with a high number of children.

**Additional information**:
This is a part-time contract position. Schedule: Monday to Friday.

Starting base rate of $24.00 per hour ($22.00 + 2.00 WEG).

Indoor and outdoor environment. Offsite Field trips weekly, including walks around the town of Welland.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract

Pay: From $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 - 35 per week

Schedule:

- Day shift
- Monday to Friday

**Experience**:

- Children with Disabilities: 1 year (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Police Check from 6 months or less (required)
- First Aid and CPR (required)
