Server - Casual

ROLE SUMMARY: This position is responsible to the Manager of Support Services and directly supervised by the Head Chef. The server performs a variety of food services duties such as portioning and serving food, washing and/or preparing food items such as fruits and vegetables, tea, coffee and toast, and cleaning and sanitizing work areas according to established procedures, standards and operational requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Sets up workstation, assembles food items (e.g. sandwiches, salads) and operates related equipment, using appropriate safety procedures. 2. Portions out and serves food and beverages for residents in accordance with portioning controls. 3. Prepares food items, including counting, weighing or measuring as appropriate, such as fruits, vegetables, tea, coffee and toast. Washes, peels, trims, pares, cuts, slices and stores vegetables and fruit as required. 4. Wraps, covers, labels and dates all foods for storage. 5. Uses the First-In, First-Out (FIFO) method for food/stock rotation and stores foods in appropriate locations as required. 6. Observes and documents dishwasher and cooler temperatures twice daily. 7. Sets up and delivers meal trays and/or supply carts to residents and dining areas, and picks up as assigned. 8. Dismantles workstation, puts away food, supplies and equipment, washes and sanitizes equipment and cleans up area. Re-stock service areas, discarding items beyond expiry date, and replenishes supplies as required. 9. Complete daily cleaning and extra cleaning tasks required. 10. Operates dispensing machines. Brings out puts away supplies as required. 11. Washes dishes, wares, utensils and equipment as required. Operates dishwashing and/or pot washing machines and equipment. 12. Spot washes walls and splash areas. Removes garbage and recycling as required. Cleans and sanitizes assigned area, equipment, dishes and wares. Sweeping and damp mopping floors. Uses carts when transporting heavy foods/stock and transport items to and from buildings. 13. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
