**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Manager, Behaviour and Retail Operations, the Behaviour Supervisor’s
primary role will be to support the behaviour department in its daily operations, and
facilitate the Winnipeg Humane Society’s educational, training, and community
outreach programs pertaining to Behaviour. They will assist with leading a team of staff

and volunteers, behaviour modification, enrichment, research, development, and
scheduling of training classes and workshops related to animal behaviour. They will

assist pet owners with behaviour concerns to offer resources to resolve these concerns
to help keep pets in their homes. Additionally, they will provide training and conduct
assessments for WHS staff and volunteers for WHS programs and community outreach

initiatives.

**Qualifications**:
The following are mandatory qualifications for this role:

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum two-years successful supervisory experience leading a team of 5+

employees
- Experienced and confident with public speaking; excellent skills speaking in front

of groups or via telephone, video, or live on media
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
- Clear Criminal with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Demonstrated experience in delivering quality customer care
- Minimum two-years professional experience in a related field such as animal

welfare or pet training

The following qualifications are desired and would be considered assets:

- Professional Dog Trainer Certification
- Knowledge of Shelter Buddy an asset
- Education in animal care or related experience in a clinic or shelter environment

preferred

**Authority**:
Authority to perform all assigned duties and responsibilities within established policies

and procedures.

**Accountability**:
Directly accountable to the Behaviour Director/Manager, Behaviour for the
performance of assigned duties.

**Interpersonal Relationships**:
Regular, daily involvement with other WHS departments, volunteers and customers.

Society both inside and outside of the shelter environment.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Supporting the Behaviour Department in successful completion of daily tasks and

programs
- Training, mentoring, and coaching staff and volunteers
- Coordinating volunteer schedules and programs
- Coordinating animal behaviour training classes including the scheduling of

contract trainers, booking private consultations, class registration, and client

relations
- Participate in behaviour class activities, assisting the contract trainers and

volunteers with set up, class lessons, and take down
- In conjunction with Behaviour specialists, make recommendations on an

animal’s prognosis and behaviour plans for animals with behavioural concerns
- Adapting to change and capturing buy in from staff on departmental and

shelter decisions and processes
- Respond to customer complaints and comments, train and model high service

standards
- Coordinating and facilitating out-of-shelter initiatives related to training a
