Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigators, and following all specific laboratory health and safety standards, the Laboratory Technician performs laboratory test work and related analysis.

The incumbent will be expected to spend around 5% of the time traveling to visit industry partners in Southern Ontario and the US.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Constructing proof of concept experiments to test different elements of the process
- Collecting experimental data, verifying results and passing on findings
- Preparing draft statistical reports and summaries from data collected
- Troubleshooting routine equipment repairs
- Collaborating with staff to determine lab set up requirements
- Troubleshooting issues with lab equipment and/or workstations

**Essential Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's Degree in the mining and mineral processing area or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum two years of experience in a mineral processing laboratory using comminution and analytical equipment such as ICP/XRD/XRF
- Planning and conducting experiments using thermal analysis systems
- Experience with the operation of x-ray diffractometer
- Demonstrated experience with the operation of scanning electron microscopes
- Collecting and analyzing data from thermal analyzer, XRD, and SEM-EDS
- Experience with computer software (e.g. MS Word, Excel)
- Good communication (oral and written) skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment; demonstrated initiative and judgment; attention to detail; good laboratory practices;
- Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
