Environmental Associate

**POSITION: ENVIRONMENTAL ASSOCIATE**

**REPORTS TO: ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES MANAGER**

**ROLE**:
Environmental Associate is responsible to the Environmental Services Manager to

maintain a safe, aesthetic comfortable and beautiful environment for the residents, staff

and visitors. All work will be carried out in safe and proper manner and precautions will

be taken to ensure resident safety when performing duties.

**RESPONSIBILITES**:
Specific Duties:
All resident’s rooms, walls and floors, light fixtures cleaned, disinfected,

polished and dusted.

Wardrobe and closets cleaned of all dust.

Counter tops, tables and chairs cleaned and disinfected of all spills and soils.

All carpets vacuumed as required.

Glass area and mirror maintained in a clean and polished state.

Reporting of all mechanical or maintenance deficiencies to the appropriate

personnel.

Monitoring and reporting inventory requirements to the Environmental

Services Manager.

Performing other duties as required.

Residents’ window ledges, door frames and wardrobes will be dusted.

Garbage containers will be emptied, cleaned and plastic liners changes as

needed

**Washroom**:

- Sinks, taps, toilets and mirrors will be cleaned and polished.
- Floors will be washed with a germicidal solution.
- Grout on the floors to be cleaned regularly with appropriate grout cleaner.
- Soap, toilet and hand towel will be replaced as needed.

**Tub Rooms**:

- Sinks, toilets and mirrors will be cleaned, disinfected and polished.
- Floors will be washed with a germicide solution.
- Grout on the floors to be cleaned regularly with appropriate grout cleaner.
- Soap, toilet and hand towel will be replaced as needed.

**Common Areas/Hallways**:

- Floors and carpet to be vacuumed or buffed daily.
- Spots on carpets are to be attended to immediately.
- Marks are to be removed from the walls.
- Carpets to be completely cleaned at least once per month.

**Dining Room**:

- Floors will be swept after breakfast and dinner.
- Floors will be washed after lunch.

**Lounges**:

- To be dusted and mopped daily.
- Floor to be washed before breakfast and after lunch.

**Floors**:

- Will be spot waxed as needed in order to maintain their appearance.

**Glass**:

- All residents’ room glass will be cleaned daily/monthly as needed.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Must have an aptitude for working with the elderly.
- Must be trainable on the job orientation
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing in English and to follow

written and verbal instruction
- Facility in a language other than English an asset.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual
Part-time hours: 15-30 per week

**Salary**: $18.20-$20.91 per hour
