Produce Team Lead

**SPUD.ca **is growing again We're looking for a Produce Team Lead to join our team in Edmonton, AB (7039 68th Avenue). The schedule for this position is **Sunday to Thursday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.**
The Produce Team Lead is the quality champion for our customers. The Produce Team Lead assists the Produce Coordinator, ensuring that our produce inventory is accurate, that we are managing our shrink, culls, and that we are not unnecessarily shorting or providing substitutions to our customers on their orders. Furthermore, the Produce Team Lead ensures that the produce team is well trained, knowledgeable and engaged. This team-based position works directly with the Produce Coordinator, Produce Procurement, and other Produce team members on getting the freshest produce into each order.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Complete/oversee daily inventory counts and update the inventory screens in the company’s inventory management system.
- Direct produce team members on the floor in the absence of the Coordinator.
- Oversee and assist in receiving, stocking, prepping and bagging produce as needed.
- Inspect all incoming produce shipments and communication with our procurement specialists on any information required to make claims on produce received.
- Put together and record produce transfers to SPUD’s other locations/entities.
- Daily produce line inspection and quality checks, with full authority to remove items as needed that do not meet our quality standards.
- Daily communication with the packing line with updates on new items, shorts/subs, and quality concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of produce supplies. Order produce supplies in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience working with produce is required.
- History of working with food (preferably fresh produce), either in a service, retail, or production role, and strong understanding of food safety and quality control processes.
- Minimum of a high-school education. Post-secondary education (or similar work experience) an asset.
- Proven ability to problem-solve and think creatively to complete assigned tasks.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with inventory management systems is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to lead others and work in a team environment.
- Desire to actively problem solve and improve processes daily.
**Physical demands & working conditions**:
- Must be able to stand on their feet for entire shifts, lifting up to 50 lbs continuously.
- Must be able to work for extended periods of time, and entire shifts in our walk-in refrigerated produce coolers.
