The Schroeder Arthritis Institute is the largest multidisciplinary arthritis hub in Canada, integrating medical, surgical and basic science aspects of Hand, Orthopaedics, Osteoporosis and Rheumatology with the goal of making a global impact in discovery, learning and patient care. The Orthopaedics Program within the Schroeder Arthritis Institute is a leader in developing and implementing innovative models of care. We are advancing integrated arthritis care to improve patient and essential care partner experience and outcomes.

**Position Summary**

Working under the Physician Director of the Orthopaedic Research Program, the Research Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day administrative activities regarding research projects and schedules as well as clinical calendar management and surgical bookings. We are looking for an organized, detail-oriented individual with excellent communication, high level reasoning and problem-solving skills.

**Duties**
- Interacts with both internal and external contacts primarily for the purposes of exchanging information and resolving problems within scope of authority.
- Demonstrates excellent competency in written and verbal communications.
- Co-creates internal procedures. Adapts communication to different audiences using discretion and judgment. Exercises discretion in handling confidential division/research/corporate department information.
- Internal contacts: UHN staff across all levels and functions including senior leaders.
- Proactive and independent management of calendar using diplomacy given nature of contacts such as internal and external senior leaders and prioritization of competing demands.
- Plan and coordinate for assigned personnel attending conferences and off-site events by organizing travel arrangements, accommodations, event registration, preparation of meeting materials and submission of expense reports.
- Ensuring efficient operation of surgical component of physician office, including performing cross-functional responsibilities that enable innovative model of care referral support.
- Working effectively with various TeamUHN members to ensure patients are scheduled for surgery and moved through their care pathway and the health system effectively.
- Demonstrate strong technology and organization skills to maintain surgical tracking, call logs and other research databases to ensure effective management of surgical booking, research project management and physician calendar.
- Performing other duties consistent with the job classification to support divisional strategic initiatives related to Integrated Care, Patient Experience, Quality Improvement both research and clinical.

**Qualifications**
- Completion of College Diploma/University Undergraduate degree or recognized equivalent is required. Bachelors Degree preferred.
- 5 years of senior administrative experience (Healthcare setting preferred)
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Completion of a medical terminology course is preferred
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills, with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to problem solve with mínimal direction. Resourceful with strong reasoning.
