Native Horizons Treatment Centre is looking to fill the position of Land Based Team Lead who, under the direction of the Executive Director, assumes responsibility for providing comprehensive culturally based care and support in the areas of mental health & addiction issues, trauma, impacts of residential schools and the 60s scoop for adults, youth, and families.

As part of a Land Based Wellness Team, the Land Based Team Lead works closely with the Land Based Wellness Mentors, Land Based Wellness Coordinator, and other cultural supports (Elders, Cultural Knowledge Keepers, and others) to support the delivery of a range of land-based wellness and aftercare programs and services to individuals and families who attend Native Horizons Treatment Centre Land Based Wellness Program. Maintenance of accurate information files and AMIS reporting entries; ensuring the safety of all occupants within the Land-Based Wellness Program as well as property and working jointly with all staff on a team approach. As our Land-Based Team Lead you will manage the day-to-day operations of our land-based programming, including direct supervision of staff. This role includes preparing, implementing, and evaluating team performance indicators, managing program budgets, conducting annual performance reviews, supporting professional development needs of the team and reporting program service results monthly to the Executive Director.

From a First Nations holistic perspective, health includes the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual aspects, and encompasses the individual, family, community, and nature.

The Land Based Wellness Program views mental health, addictions, and trauma concerns as consequences of direct and intergenerational trauma, and other disruptions in the connections of the individual and family to the holistic perspective.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in counselling, psychology, Social Services with counselling and/or two years related work experience in the addictions or helping field.
- Experience working in and/or knowledge of addictions residential treatment programs.
- Experience working in Mental Health and Addictions field.
- Post-secondary education in Indigenous studies and/or combination of an equivalent and relevant education would be an asset.
- Experience in group facilitation, workshop design and delivery.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written and computer skills.
- Reliable and stable as evidenced by previous experience.
- Experience working within First Nation communities.
- Minimum of 2 years of being substance free.
- Actively involved in a current personal recovery plan.
- Preference given to an Individual of Native ancestry with Knowledge and understanding of Local Native (MCFN and SN) history, clan systems, protocols, etiquette, culture, traditions, and ceremonies.
- Exceptional knowledge of Indigenous historical and contemporary issues
- Experience supporting individuals, families, and communities to access cultural teachings, ceremony and develop plans for traditional healing.
- Experience in community-based mental health and addictions related community outreach, prevention, and aftercare support.
- Experience coordinating and facilitating cultural and land-based activities.
- Experience in cultural, land based and clinical modalities in prevention, healing and aftercare support services is an asset.
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with particular emphasis on family violence, child welfare, the impacts of trauma, Indigenous youth engagement and community outreach
- Knowledge and experience working with Indigenous children, youth and families in a healing and reconciliation capacity.
- Fluency in a First Nation language is an asset.
- Successful completion of Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
- Must have a valid driver’s license and complete a 3 Year Driver’s Record check.
- Flexibility is a must; hours may vary depending on need.
- Ability to provide input to policy and procedure development.
- Ability to provide input into program design and development.
- Ability to establish and maintain culturally appropriate relationships with colleagues and clients.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and projects.
- Able to participate in outdoor and athletic programming.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of NHTC Programs and Services.
