**Introduction**:
Evergreen is currently seeking to contract a Curatorial Fellow to contribute their unique skills and expertise to the Institute for Public Art and Sustainability (IPAS).

As an evolution of the Evergreen Public Art Program, IPAS supports and sustains public art for future generations, led by the values of resilience, environmental stewardship, re-indigenization and anticolonialism, and equity. Informed by Indigenous knowledges of interconnectivity and land as relation, IPAS works closely with its community and institutional partners to foster sustainability through both ecosystem and arts ecology.

The Curatorial Fellow, Indigenous Arts will assist in developing the strategy and vision of this program into the future. Due to the specificity of this posting, we hold this space for Indigenous persons, and Indigenous persons with disabilities, with gender and sexually diverse identities and/or the intersections of these identities.

**About the Role**:
**Key Responsibilities**:

- Propose and develop new projects and programs for 2024 and beyond in consultation with but not limited to IPAS and its partners.
- Act as the primary liaison with artists in shaping and presenting their projects.
- Work in close collaboration with the Curator, Public Art and Evergreen Program staff offering leadership and guidance for IPAS activities.
- Develop editorial and communications content that presents and interprets their projects in engaging and relevant ways for diverse audiences.
- Represent Evergreen at external meetings with IPAS partners and available to support at key donor events.
- Work with IPAS team to develop public program and outreach plans to accompany their projects.
- Represent IPAS at public lectures and conferences as required.
- Produce and present new and existing independent research to identify significant key issues and opportunities for Indigenous Arts at IPAS

**About You**:
**You have the following qualifications**:

- Knowledge and interest in developing land-based programs and initiatives, as well as innovative approaches to working with art in the natural and built environment.
- Demonstrated experience shepherding and safeguarding difference in institutions through the work of artists.
- 3-5+ years of curatorial experience.
- Master’s degree in Art History or Curatorial Studies or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience working with public art and a future-focused understanding of art in the public realm.
- Exemplary research, writing and communication skills.
- Experience commissioning and developing large-scale projects with artists.
- A flexible and adaptive working style, with experience and ease as part of a highly collaborative and integrated team.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of local, national and international contemporary art and public art.
- Exceptional skills and success with fundraising and grant writing in the arts.

**Other details**:

- Main contact at Evergreen will be the Curator, Public Art
- Some presence on site at Evergreen Brick Works will be necessary to complete elements of this work, potentially on some evenings or weekends
- Office space available for use
- Fees to be invoiced by contractor on a monthly basis; maximum of 80 hours/month at $37.50 per hour
- Preferred contract start date, June 2023 for an 18-month period (with possibility for extension)
