Within the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General, the Community Safety and Crime Prevention Branch aims to build and enhance safe communities, reduce the impacts of crime and violence, and promote crime prevention in British Columbia through a range of programs and services.

The Civil Forfeiture Office (CFO) is responsible for implementing the Civil Forfeiture Act (the Act). The Act provides the Director, Civil Forfeiture with the authority to use the civil law process to pursue forfeiture via the BC Supreme Court for property and assets acquired with the proceeds of unlawful activity, or used as instruments of unlawful activity. The Act also allows the Director to use an administrative process to pursue forfeiture of certain properties.

The Program Administrator reviews and gathers facts/evidence of delegated cases referred by the Program Assistant and seeks and confirms missing or contradictory information from a variety of established sources. Under the supervision of the Director or Program Coordinator, the Program Administrator makes case specific decisions and thorough recommendations for acceptance or refusal of Administrative Forfeiture cases within the parameters of the Civil Forfeiture Act and other applicable laws.

**Job Requirements**:

- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Justice or a related field and one (1) year of *related experience; OR,
- Diploma or a Bachelor’s Degree in an unrelated field and two (2) years of*related experience; OR,
- Grade 12 or equivalent and five (5) years *related experience.
- Related experience must include:

- Recent experience working in a law firm, Legal Services Branch, a police agency, or a forfeiture office.

Preference may be given to applicants who have experience with one or more of the following:
- Experience working one-to-one with police agencies.
- Experience working one-to-one with lawyers/paralegals.
- Experience in evidentiary information gathering and interview techniques.
