**Duties**:
Parks Canada is focused on protecting the natural and cultural heritage of Sable Island National Park Reserve (SINPR), on carefully managing visitors who come to experience it, and on sharing the stories of this special place with Canadians.

As an Asset/Field Support Technician based on SINPR, you will be in a pivotal role with a unique range of duties blending the spheres of technical support and resource management in a highly remote and adventurous site on one of Canada's furthest offshore islands. This position reports to the SINPR Operations Coordinator and works closely with maintenance and support staff.

Duties of this position include:

- Provide technical support to Operations Coordinator for on-island operations, assess weather and landing conditions for aircraft and boat landings; identify and mark runways; provide logistics and ground support for transportation onto and off Sable Island.
- Schedule, organize and provide routine asset maintenance services including minor capital/re-capitalization projects (e.g. replacing a floor, interior/exterior painting, road maintenance, grass cutting).
- Operate equipment and vehicles.
- Provide technical support for scientific monitoring and research programs on Sable Island.
- Collect, compile, document, and analyze spatial and non-spatial resource management data using various media and software data manipulation requirements as directed.
- Assist in the preparation of technical/scientific reports.

**Work environment**:
Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada's outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

The work environment for the Asset/Field Support Technician for Sable Island National Park Reserve includes a year round position with rotating two-month remote field deployments interspersed by two-month office-based rotations in Parks Canada offices in Halifax. As a year-round remote site operation, this requires the Asset/Field Support Technician to work in rotation with a total of six months remote site deployment per year. On the island, the Asset/Field Support Technician reports to the Operations Coordinator, collaborating with skilled Maintenance Workers and as required by other functional Parks Canada staff (ecologist, visitor experience and external relations staff, Operations Manager, Park Manager, etc.).
