We are actively searching for an experienced employee to support operators on a Hydrovac Truck and a Combo Flushing Truck to work at our various construction sites throughout the City. This is a full-time permanent and year-round position.

**Work Description**

The Hydrovac and Combo Flushing Truck Assistant is responsible for performing on-site vacuum and pipe flushing operations. Operations must be performed in a way that coincides with the best practices and must be carried out in a manner that is compliance with the company’s Health and Safety policy and practices. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality approach to all employees, customers, subcontractors, managers and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Taggart vision, mission, and must comply with all company policies and procedures.

**Major Responsibilities**:
**Hydrovac and Combo Truck Flushing Assistant**
- In all aspects of work, follow health and safety practices and standards as outlined by the company and applicable regulations.
- Perform daily inspections of all aspects of truck and equipment, including but limited to hoses and pumps.
- Perform daily cleaning and preventative maintenance on the Hydrovac and/or Combo trucks and auxiliary equipment being used.
- Clean storm and sewer pipes using the appropriate truck and equipment.
- Drive Hydrovac and/or Combo trucks to and from the shop and various construction sites in a safe and efficient manner to facilitate timely completion of projects.
- Set up and take down all equipment, hoses and tools
- Set up and connect hoses and tools from hydro blast pump to operation ranging from 50 - 500 feet in length. These set ups include elevated work towers, vessels, buildings and more
- Perform vacuum and hydro blast operations including shot gunning of pressures ranging from 4,000 psi to 40,000 psi
- Load and unload heavy equipment necessary to perform vacuum and hydro blasting operations
- Complete daily reports and driver’s logs according to regulations, including reports of inspections, maintenance, repairs, accidents and incidents.
- Report to site staff and Manager any abnormalities or issues in regards to the process, product, machine, equipment, workplace and safety concerns as it pertains to the Hydrovac and/or Combo trucks.
- Clean and ensure work area/site is tidy and safe prior to departure.
- Follow and promote safety practices by complying with all Health & Safety practices, procedures and policies, including the required use personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Liaise and take direction from the various Foreman onsite, Hydrovac and/or Combo Truck Operators on a daily and ongoing basis.
- As required and needed, perform manual labour such as lifting, pulling and moving various equipment, preparing the site (shoveling, digging, etc) as needed.
- All other duties as required.

**Statement of Qualifications**:
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Minimum of six month to two years of experience assisting or operating on a Hydrovac truck and/or Combo Flushing truck.
- Experience in hydro blasting, tank cleaning and working with high pressure pumps is preferred.
- Detailed focus and attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
- Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy machinery and work in cramped or awkward position, with the ability to lift, hold, push and pull 60 lbs. on a daily, regular and consistent basis.
- Ability to communicate verbally in English, and in French would be considered an asset, with a strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team, specifically an ongoing basis with the Operators.
- Ability to take direction and follow instructions.
- In-depth knowledge of construction/heavy equipment.
- Must have the ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to follow instructions and to be flexible with the changing needs of the job.
- A valid class AZ driver’s license is required.
- Experience in and the ability to drive manual transmission vehicle is required.
- A clean driver’s abstract would be considered an asset.
- Openness to learn new technologies and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to be reliable and punctual.
- High health and safety standards.
- Ability to safely perform work using high pressure water shotguns.
- Ability and training in working in confined spaces would be considered an asset.
- Current valid certifications in ‘trenching safety or soil awareness training’, ‘hydro electrical safety training course’, ‘TDG training’ and ‘confined space training’ would be considered an asset.
