**Janitor**

**Position Purpose & Overview**

**Key Responsibilities**
- Vacuum, dust, sweep, mop, wash and wax offices, rooms, lobbies, and other school areas as assigned.
- Move and reset tables, chairs, and other classroom and office furniture.
- Inspect all washrooms, hallways, change rooms, and stairways to ensure safety and cleanliness.
- Monitor and remove garbage from school grounds, the surrounding areas, and parkade.
- Monitor and replace consumable supplies in dispensers (hand sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towel, soap, etc.)
- Sanitize high touch surfaces throughout the school, including door knobs, light switches, railings, desks, and phones.
- Identify facility or maintenance issues and report them to the Associate Director of Facilities on a timely basis.
- Quickly respond to requests for service from faculty and staff.
- Secure building doors and locks at night.
- This role will require working hours outside of school office hours: often evening events; occasionally going offsite to document student programs; and occasional morning and weekend commitments._

On rare occasions where there are urgent needs at the School, an employee may be assigned to temporarily backfill role(s) critical to the school’s operations and business continuity._

- Key Interactions:

- Internal: Faculty, non-teaching employees, Associate Director of Facilities, Director of Operations & IT, and other Facilities staff.
- External: Parents, students, alumni, and visitors to the School.

**Position Details**
- Full-time permanent position.
- Work location: On site.
- Hours of work: 3:00PM to 11:00PM Monday to Friday.
- Comprehensive benefits package.
- Annual salary of $47,878.

**Required Qualifications and Key Skills**
- **Education & Work Experience**_
- Previous experience in a Janitorial or Maintenance role.
- Can operate heavy cleaning equipment, including scrubbers, waxes, and carpet extractors.
- A Building Service Worker Certificate is considered an asset.
- WHMIS Certification is considered an asset.
- Valid First Aid certificate (BC Occupational First Aid Level 1) is considered an asset.
- Able to work on weekends or overtime, when required.
- A valid BC Class 2 Driver’s License would be considered an asset.

- Basic computer skills.
- Willingness to take on new tasks and learn new skills.
- Self-motivated, with a proven ability to work independently.
- Able to work in variable climate conditions.
- **Success Measurements**_
- Ongoing and effective communication with the Associate Director of Facilities, team members, and clients.
- All areas of the school are receiving care and attention on a daily basis; floors, stairways, and walkways are clean and free of debris, and washrooms are maintained to an expected standard of cleanliness and working order.
- Maintenance tasks are being performed to the expected standard.
- Daily janitorial requests are met in a prompt and complete manner.
- Event setup and teardown requests are being completed accurately and on-time.

**Conditions of Employment**
- Clearance on criminal record check for vulnerable sector is a condition of employment
- Ability to legally work in Canada, in an educational setting is a condition of employment
