Smiths Falls, Canada Senior Support Services - CPHC Full time

Senior Support Services - CPHC is a registered charitable organization dedicated to improving the lives of seniors and their families by providing community support services.

CPHC is seeking a Brokered, Certified Fitness Instructor to work who is interested in instructing specialized classes on behalf of CPHC to seniors in the Perth and Smiths Falls area with a primary focus on Exercise & Fall Prevention classes.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide a consistent approach to helping participants develop an understanding of risks, fall prevention strategies and post-fall injuries.
- Increase participants independence, mobility and quality of life.
- Provide program instruction and leadership at the appropriate skill level of each participant.
- Attentively monitor participants during classes.
- Demonstrate initiative, excellent judgement and prioritizing skills.
- Promote and adhere to proper infection control practices.
- Responsible for classroom setup and take down.
- Support and participate in the development and implementation of programs and objectives.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with health care providers and other community-based groups.
- Prepare and maintain progress reports and basic metrics on participants.
- Accurately collect data for reporting.
- Work in accordance with procedures and protocols as it relates to the programs.
- Adhere to confidentiality and privacy requirements.

**Qualifications**:

- **Regulated Healthcare Providers Position**: Registration (in good standing) with a regulated health professions in Ontario such as Kinesiologist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse.
- OR **Instructor Position**: Fitness instructor certification through the University of Western, Centre for Activity + Aging (CCAA), CanFit Pro, YMCA or equivalent.
- Knowledge of Fall Prevention and Exercise activities.
- Experience working with seniors.
- Skills and experience in self-management principles and strategies.
- Well-developed time management, organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid CPR and first aid certificates.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and the ability to travel within program catchment area.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Judicial Matters Check.

The Brokered, Certified Fitness Instructor is not an employee of CPHC. There are no guarantee of hours. However, they will benefit from:

- Regulated Health Care Provider: $35-40 per hour.
- Instructor: $18-24 per hour.
- Casual dress.
