**Background**

The St. Williams Conservation Reserve (SWCR) is a 1,035 hectare area of Crown land located in Norfolk County, designated in 2004 as a Conservation Reserve. One of the largest blocks of forest in the Carolinian Life Zone of Southern Ontario, the SWCR is recognized regionally, provincially, and nationally as being important to the conservation of biological diversity and natural heritage, especially that of the oak savanna and sand barren communities.

The SWCR Community Council (SWCRCC) is a not-for-profit corporation, comprised of volunteers established for the purpose of restoring and protecting the SWCR. The SWCRCC exists to advance the goals of the property Management Plan developed by the Province of Ontario. The SWCRCC works in cooperation with Ontario Parks and the MECP to implement the current Operations Plan.

**Contract Opportunity**

The SWCRCC seeks a highly-motivated individual to take on the contracted position of Project Coordinator. The Project Coordinator is a contracted position between an independent contractor and the SWCRCC. This position will coordinate and oversee the delivery of various Species at Risk (SAR) stewardship and resource management activities within the SWCR. Under the direction of the SWCRCC Chair and Board of Directors, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of project work plans, field operations, financial management, project reporting requirements and supervision of project staff and consultants. The Project Coordinator will also liaison between the SWCRCC and the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP), partners and interest groups, and attend monthly meetings held by the SWCRCC.

**Term**

This position has an anticipated start date of **September 1, 2023** and an anticipated completion date of **August 31, 2024**, with opportunity to continue in the role beyond the stated completion date.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience (grant administration, project coordination, financial management, resource management and Species at Risk (SAR) stewardship, community relations, public outreach).
- University degree or college diploma in environmental science, biology or related field.
- Familiar with SAR, invasive species, and common flora and fauna of the SWCR and Norfolk Sand Plain.
- Demonstrated ability to self-motivate, work independently and complete tasks with mínimal supervision. Flexible and adaptable.
- Valid driver’s license with access to a reliable vehicle for work-related travel.

**Duties**:

- Assist the SWCRCC to manage and coordinate the delivery of Species at Risk stewardship and resource management activities including preparation of contracts, funding reports, invoices, proposals, website content, and other duties as determined.
- Coordinate and supervise project staff, contractors, and volunteers involved in SAR stewardship and resource management.
- Provide financial management and reporting for all project related transactions.
- Prepare monthly project and budget updates for the SWCRCC.
- Provide administrative support at monthly SWCRCC meetings and at committee meetings.
- Research and produce content for outreach materials including the SWCR website, presentations, signage and printed materials.
- Represent the SWCRCC at community events, meetings, and other outreach and awareness opportunities.
- Assist with development and delivery of other aspects of the SAR stewardship projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
