Job Summary

Reporting to Director, Recruitment and Admissions and working closely with Program Directors, the Assistant Director, Recruitment & Admissions is responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and evaluating the effectiveness of strategies and tactics to market Smith MBA and Master of Management programs. The Manager will oversee the recruitment and admission activities in support of the strategic enrolment objectives of the programs that are supported, enhance the profile of Smith School of Business (Smith) to applicants, and to encourage well-qualified students to seek admission and ultimately to enroll in our programs. The Assistant Director, Recruitment & Admission is an integral member of the Executive MBA and Master of Management leadership team.

**Job Description**:

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Manage responsibilities of a team of Recruitment Specialists and Application Advisors, as well as provide direction and support to staff who do not report directly to the incumbent.
- Collaborate with Smith departments to identify and prioritize reporting requirements, timely communication, and to ensure clarity of process to achieve admission targets.
- Identify opportunities for business process improvements and ensure staff are properly trained.
- Responsible for recruitment and admission activities designed to attract, admit and enrol qualified students to our programs.
- Ensure delivery of seamless integrated service approach to all clients, including prospective applicants, applicants and admitted students while providing a seamless continuum of service and support for prospective students and students, from initial inquiry to ultimate arrival at Queen’s.
- Responsible for the sales funnel and ensuring the proper infrastructure is supporting the conversion strategy, as set out by the Director, Recruitment and Admissions.
- Develop and maintain expertise of educational systems to identify and evaluate of applicants for admission.
- With consultation from the Program Director, Director Program Services, Executive Director, Marketing & Communications and Executive Director, Finance and Administration determine how to plan, budget, implement and evaluate recruiting initiatives.
- With the Program Director and Director of Marketing, implement, manage and evaluate the promotion and marketing of various programs at QSB.
- Participate in budget planning and recommend resource allocation decisions. This will include developing an annual and longer-term business plan to guide marketing and recruitment and new initiatives for admission.

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- University degree (Queen’s degree preferred). An MBA is considered an asset. Consideration will be given to the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience managing and directing staff (3-5 years).
- Experience in a leadership role.
- Experience managing sales oriented teams.
- Experience developing proposals and project plans, including measurement criteria.
- Experience developing presentations and speaking to large groups of people.
- Experience organizing, promoting and executing special events.
- Student recruitment and admission, marketing or public relations background is an asset.
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

**SPECIAL SKILLS**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation skills
- Must be creative and willing to develop and implement new ideas and innovative approaches to set and meet objectives
- Analytical and interpretive skills. Ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies that are targeted and measurable, evaluate their effectiveness and recommend and implement change.
- Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate and lead the execution of activities efficiently and effectively
- Well-developed public relations skills
- Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills as well as strong intercultural communication skills
- Experience harnessing and leveraging technology, particularly to advance communication and tracking strategies.
- Ability to travel and work non-traditional hours (some evenings/weekends)
- Experience with international study abroad and/or exchange programs is an asset
