**Position Summary**
The Assistant Director of Care (ADOC) provides support and mentorship to the registered staff of Rideaucrest Home and monitors the effectiveness of non-regulated nursing staff in the delivery of resident-centred care. The ADOC fully supports the role of the Director of Care and acts in this capacity during their absence.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITITES
Develop and monitor the delivery of resident care services while ensuring the implementation and evaluation of systems, policies and programs to meet the care needs of residents while maintaining compliance with all governing bodies
Promote and support a culture of health, safety, well-being and respect and ensure compliance with related policies and legislation while working in conjunction with Occupational Health and corporate health and safety to development plans related to employees returning to work safely
Initiate and coordinate supports provided through community partners in relation to resident care while maintaining ongoing communication with external service provided related to patient care
Supervise registered and non-registered staff to accomplish objective and meet standards as well as provide support through on-call duties; while in conjunction with the Director of Care and HR&OD, participate in the recruitment and selection process, demonstrate leadership, mentoring and coaching with staff and effective management of the collective agreement to foster positive employee relations

**Qualifications, Competencies**
Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses
Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses preferred
3 years related supervisory experience in a long-term care or gerontology related setting
Experience supervising in a unionized environment preferred
Experience with liaising with Resident and Family Councils to create positive harmonious working relationships preferred
Must demonstrate corporate competencies: Customer Focus, Results Orientation, Integrity, and Teamwork
**Skills, Abilities, Work Demands**
Knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Program Standards and all applicable policies, legislation and regulations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong, effective customer service and interpersonal skills
Advanced computer skills including MS Office, RAI-MDS, and patient care programs
Strong and effective problem solving skills
Strong organizational skills and with the ability to prioritize work in a demanding environment
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coach, motivate, and develop employee to achieve success
Demonstrated conflict management skills and methods to reduce tension or conflict between two or more people
Ability to research, analyze, and formulate solutions to complex issues
Proof of recent screening for Tuberculosis (TB);
Proof of immunity to communicable diseases
Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check, including vulnerable sector
