**Position Title**: Data Analytics and Reporting Manager

**Reports To**: Director, Group Special Projects

**Department**: Group Actuarial

**Term**: Permanent Full Time

**Band**: 4L

**Work Arrangements**: We are currently working remotely, and we will be moving to a hybrid model when our office renovation is complete (approximately September 2023), coming into the office a minimum of 2 days per week, every other week on designated days.

**The Opportunity**: This position is responsible for managing the Data Analytics and Reporting Team. This team would be responsible for data analytics and reporting needs in the Group line of business. This includes being experts on the Group Data Mart and overseeing future enhancements, documenting, and streamlining current reports and underlying processes, and being a central point of contact for developing tools to support future finance, pricing, claims management and distribution needs.

**What you will be doing**:

- Provide thought leadership related to data models, analytics methodology, tools, and measurement
- Oversee and support sales and inforce block reporting, GAE compensation and profit calculations, and claims reporting
- Analyze data from multiple sources for interpretation
- Identify patterns, trends, outliers in data to support claims investigations, claims management practice reviews, etc.
- Analyze claims data relative to pricing and underwriting variables and identify potential gaps
- Investigate, escalate, and communicate data findings as appropriate
- Provide recommendations and implement process improvements to achieve efficiencies in reporting
- Develop/enhance dashboards to provide new insights to business leaders
- Liaise with external partners for various data analytics projects, interpreting their data needs, providing relevant data, and resolving data issues. Help interpret findings related to these projects.
- Advise customers on the best solution to their data needs and/or problems
- Stay current of new statistical and modelling concepts and lead efforts to increase use of analytics
- Oversee and support timely completion of industry surveys, trend analysis, and adhoc data requests
- Monitoring for and reporting unusual claims activities and develop accurate and actionable reports for investigators
- Developing, maintaining, and monitoring various analytics reports, high risk clients, and suspicious transaction reports
- Respond to adhoc critical reporting needs of the business unit

**What you will bring**:

- 5+ years demonstrated experience in quantitative analysis, data management techniques and processes, preferably in an insurance environment
- University degree in Mathematics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Computer Science or Business Administration. Relevant post-graduate degree is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team of 2+ employees to ensure deliverables are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, VBA
- Expert knowledge in data management in transactional/relational databases. MS SQL preferred
- Experience using data visualization tools
- Expert understanding of and ability to access, consolidate, and understand data from various data sources and generate actionable reports for business stakeholders
- Experience documenting data flows and streamlining processes
- Knowledge of Group Benefits is an asset
