- Job Description Summary
The Research Project Coordinator position will involve working on several grant funded HPV and STI research projects being conducted through the Women s Health Research Institute (WHRI). The primary goal of the work in this program is to control HPV related diseases and further STI research. The role provides a range of specific leadership responsibilities regarding project oversight and coordination, monitoring of budgets, financial reconciliation, funding body report completion amongst other things.
The Research Project Coordinator will work under the supervision of Dr. Gina Ogilvie and the Research Program Manager.
The incumbent will have a work space at WHRI, which is located at the BC Women s Hospital campus.
Organizational Status
The position is in the School of Population and Public Health (SPPH), within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia. The School is an innovative unit that encompasses many of the health-related groupings at UBC as a collaborative venture. The School is structured around four divisions: Occupational and Environmental Health; Health Services and Policy; Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Public Health Practice; and Health in Populations. The resulting mix of professions and disciplines is seen as a means of connecting individuals and learners to galvanize the relationship between health research, public health and health services and to enhance learning.
Work Performed
- Coordinates and monitors conduct and administration of various research projects and program activities
- Oversees various research project activities to ensure timelines are met, identifies potential or actual risks/threats to project objectives and or completion.
- Works collaboratively with team and relevant stakeholders to facilitate completion of various research project activities and various project reports (annual, final or others as needed)
- Participates in data development, project planning and execution of HPV or STI projects, and works closely with Program Manager and investigative team
- Conducts literature reviews as needed and coordinates acquisition of information from various sources
- Conducts data collection, analysis and completion of protocol specific documentation as needed. Manages various program expenses and project budgets, including financial reconciliation processes
- Acts as a resource to various research team members to identify real or potential problems and works independently and with the Research Manager as needed to resolve these issues.
- Organizes and participates in various study progress meetings with research team(s)
- Develops abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations for submission and/or presentations as needed.
- Participates in project ethics submissions and management of various regulatory documentation as needed.
- Other duties as needed.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Errors made could influence the ability of the research team to meet critical deadlines, as well as compromise the results of research project, and therefore impact the credibility of the Principal Investigator or the program. Poor decisions may be damaging to the reputation of the Principal Investigator, the School, and the University and could lead to incorrect or inappropriate policy recommendations being made.
