CBC ABILI CREW PLACEMENTS FOR EXCELLENCE PROGRAM
This role requires full time on site presence.
** TORONTO
This role described below is part of CBC’s CAPE program which is specifically for people with disabilities*. CAPE is a six-month paid placement program that aims to kick-start the careers of people with disabilities, eliminate barriers to employment, showcase individual talents and generate more discussion, learning and content related to disability, accessibility and inclusion.
The program will run from Monday, January 13 to Friday, June 27, 2025.
What do you need to be eligible?- You must self-identify as a person with a disability*.- You must have no prior long-term work experience with the CBC.- You must be able to work legally in Canada.- You must be available for the assigned workweek during the program, to be discussed during the interview process (_up to 38.75 hours-some roles have more flexibility)._

“means any impairment, including a physical, mental, intellectual, cognitive, learning, communication or sensory impairment—or a functional limitation—whether permanent, temporary or episodic in nature, or evident or not, that, in interaction with a barrier, hinders a person’s full and equal participation in society."
Part of the CAPE program includes attending weekly online group meetings with other CAPE participants. These meetings will be scheduled with your manager’s approval.
Your role and how you will make an impact:
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.- Ability to solve problems independently and in group discussions.- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.- Ability to take direction and find solutions to production challenges.- Understanding of and interest in sports, both high performance (Olympics) and professional.- Demonstrated writing, research and fact checking skills.- Openness to new ideas and approaches.- Ability to work to deadlines in a sometimes stressful environment.- Strong team player.- Basic Adobe Premiere Pro editing skills are a strong asset.- Photography and Photoshop skills are an asset.- Graduation from Community College with a diploma in Radio and Television Arts, or the equivalent is an asset.- Bilingualism is an asset.
Responsibilities include:
- Seek out and obtain audio and/or visual elements for programming and production. If necessary, negotiate, within established parameters, the acquisition of audio and/or visual material from internal or external suppliers.- Seek out, obtain, evaluate and organize information and materials, from individuals and/or varied sources which will contribute to the realization of the program or segment.- Suggest ideas for, and possible contributors to, programs and/or program segments.- Under supervision, provide support to programs by preparing shoot tapes, shortlisting program mater- Varifying and archiving program material along with any necessary documentation.- Following specific instructions, screen and time segments of shows notting necessary information and inputting required key information in databases.-
- Conduct routine correspondence.- Obtain program information for the Associate Producer or Producer.- Respond to requests for, or enquiries about program information.- Select visual and audio material, make appropriate notes and copy or arrange for the copying in an appropriate format.- Assemble basic research information.- As required, provides general administrative support to the program unit.
