**Job Summary**

The Child and Youth Worker will coordinate and facilitate community based child and youth programs. The Child and Youth Worker will provide educational services, support and advocacy, and participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of age and culturally appropriate programs to help meet the needs of children, youth and their families using a capacity building and health promotion framework.

**Job Specific Responsibilities**
- Direct service with children 6-18 years, must be available to work evenings and weekends
- Plans programs that enhance cognitive, physical, social, and emotional development
- Implement, monitor, and evaluate community-based programs
- Provide updates and contact with parents when necessary
- Monitor and maintain/purchase adequate supplies and equipment for programming
- Create linkages with available community resources i.e. local schools, recreation centres
- Ensure all program safety measures are being met
- Works closely with and support program staff, volunteers, and student placements

**Qualifications**
- Social Services or Child and Youth Worker or Early Childhood Education Diploma or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in child and youth work
- Criminal Reference check for working with vulnerable populations
- Current CPR level C, Standard First Aid, 2 Covid immunizations and Food Handlers Certification
- Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- Working knowledge and use of major computer programs
- Strong knowledge of child development and behaviour guidance techniques
- Effective at communicating and problem solving
- Experience and flexibility working in diverse community-based programs with families facing multiple health risks and barriers
- Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
- High Five certification.
