Environmental Coordinator

We provide environmental services to Birla Carbon Canada in Hamilton is looking for an Environmental Coordinator to join our team. Reporting to the Environmental Manager, the Environmental coordinator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation and maintenance of environmental policies, systems, programs and procedures to support safety and healthy working conditions for employees and meet company standards, legal requirements and local community standards.

**Responsibilities**:
- Supports in the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of effective environmental controls and performance measurables. Documents, analyses, and reports to identify opportunities to improve environmental awareness.
- Supports Environmental Manager in ensuring company compliance with all applicable legal and corporate safety and environmental policies, regulations, and requirements; including all environmental reporting, investigation, inspection, training programs, permit(s) acquisition and the proper use of all required environmental control equipment.
- Supports in the development and maintenance of employee awareness of (and compliance with) Birla’s enhanced safety and environmental-control commitments through provision of training, communication, involvement, daily inspections and identification of regulatory required environmental training for employees.
- Evaluates compliance with key environmental procedures (line breaking, emergency action plans, noise and hearing conservation, environmental controls, etc.) and works to strengthen compliance where necessary.
- Engages with Contractor/Consultants as required, as well as conducting other duties as assigned
**Required Qualifications**:
- Post-Secondary education in Environmental Sciences or related field
- 3-5 years’ experience in environmental compliance and associated reporting within an industrial/manufacturing setting
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of programs
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent participation and commitment to safety and the environment
- Excellent organization, communication skills and ability to work within a team environment
**Work Conditions/Schedule**
- 8-hour regular day shifts; 40 hours per week: Monday - Friday
- Occasional overtime/on-call duties as required
