The automotive parts counter person serves as a vital link between the automotive repair technicians and customers seeking replacement parts. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service, accurately identifying and locating parts, processing transactions, and maintaining inventory control.

**Key Responsibilities**:
1. **Customer Service**:

- Greet customers promptly and courteously.
- Listen attentively to customers' inquiries and provide knowledgeable assistance.
- Offer recommendations and advice on suitable parts for customers' vehicles.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and a focus on resolution.

2. **Parts Identification and Sourcing**:

- Use catalogs, computer databases, and other resources to identify and locate automotive parts.
- Interpret customers' descriptions of parts needed and effectively match them with the correct items.
- Research and source rare or specialty parts as needed, utilizing network connections or ordering from suppliers.

3. **Order Processing**:

- Accurately input customer orders into the point-of-sale system.
- Provide estimates for the cost of parts and labor, including taxes and any additional fees.
- Coordinate with the service department or technicians to ensure timely fulfillment of orders.
- Process payments, handle cash transactions, and issue receipts.

4. **Inventory Management**:

- Receive and inspect incoming shipments of parts.
- Organize and maintain inventory shelves and storage areas.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor stock levels and place orders to replenish inventory as needed.

5. **Technical Knowledge**:

- Stay informed about automotive makes, models, and parts compatibility.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, new products, and advancements in automotive technology.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to customers and colleagues when necessary.

6. **Documentation and Reporting**:

- Maintain accurate records of transactions, including sales, returns, and exchanges.
- Prepare reports on inventory levels, sales performance, and customer feedback.
- Assist with tracking warranty claims and processing returns to suppliers.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Previous experience in automotive parts sales or a related field preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using computerized parts catalogs and point-of-sale systems.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in handling transactions and inventory.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
