Résumé des fonctions
Sous la direction du directeur principal régional ou de la directrice principale régionale Qualité des locomotives, la personne titulaire de ce poste soutient de façon proactive la supervision de l’atelier et du personnel horaire chargé du dépannage et des réparations mécaniques et électriques et de la technologie embarquée. Elle s’assure que les travaux sont réalisés conformément au programme d’entretien visé.

Elle met à profit son expertise technique afin d’offrir du soutien technique au dépannage, ainsi que de l’encadrement. Le technicien ou la technicienne sur le terrain Locomotives collabore avec la direction d’atelier en fournissant des conseils en matière de réparation de locos et en établissant un processus décisionnel pour la remise en service des locos en fonction des exigences de sécurité, de qualité et de fiabilité. Son travail consiste entre autres à examiner la liste des locos devant passer à l’atelier et à déterminer si certaines de ces locos peuvent rester en service sans passer par l’atelier.

La personne titulaire doit améliorer les indicateurs de mesure clés, notamment la durée moyenne de fonctionnement avant défaillance et les plans de réparation des locomotives souvent en panne, et faciliter les diagnostics touchant les composants de locomotive et la technologie embarquée.

**Principales responsabilités**

**Fournir un soutien opérationnel au personnel des ateliers**
- Déceler et corriger les problèmes de fiabilité des locomotives grâce à l’analyse des données et aux activités de dépannage, en mettant l’accent sur les problèmes difficiles à régler par les techniciens rémunérés à l’heur
- Élaborer des lignes de conduite et des méthodes qui améliorent la fiabilité et la disponibilité des locomotives
- Offrir du soutien technique au personnel des ateliers de locomotives pendant les divers quarts, selon les besoins
- Effectuer des inspections de qualité sur le travail effectué par les employés rémunérés à l’heure, pour s’assurer que ce travail respecte toutes les normes du CN et les règlements en vigueur
- Élaborer et mettre en œuvre des instructions sur les programmes de modification visant à améliorer la performance
- Effectuer des enquêtes sur les pannes de locos ou de train et sur les retards, afin d’en déterminer les causes profondes et de proposer des solutions pour de réduire les temps de séjour des locos
- Donner du coaching aux membres du personnel sur la façon d’installer et d’entretenir les systèmes mécaniques, électriques et embarqués des locos, et de régler les problèmes de ces systèmes
- Agir à titre de ressource technique principale aux ateliers, en ce qui a trait aux systèmes mécaniques, électriques et embarqués
- Bien connaître la réglementation de Transports Canada et de la FRA relative au matériel
- Discuter avec différents fournisseurs et fabricants d’équipement d’origine au sujet des caractéristiques des produits, des modifications à apporter, des problèmes techniques, des garanties et des programmes de modification
- Agir en tant qu’agent de liaison de la Traction du CN concernant les opérations de démontage des composants défectueux

**Soutien technologique aux systèmes embarqués**
- Offrir du soutien technique en ce qui a trait aux problèmes et aux réparations touchant la technologie embarquée des locomotives
- Fournir du coaching aux installateurs rémunérés à l’heure pendant les projets pilotes et l’installation des prototypes de matériel embarqué
- Guider les employés rémunérés à l’heure sur la façon d’installer, d’entretenir et de dépanner les systèmes embarqués, et notamment les composants de la Commande intégrale des trains (CIT)
- Effectuer des essais d’intégration de bout en bout (LIFE), des essais d’intégration sur le terrain (FT) et des essais de qualification sur le terrain (FTQ), en laboratoire et sur le terrain
- Définir la durée moyenne avant défaillance dans le cadre des travaux planifiés et non planifiés, et soutenir les efforts des ateliers visant à circonscrire les causes profondes des pannes de locomotives
