The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of six Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Communication Sciences and Disorders), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centres. The Faculty has more than 3,200 undergraduate students and more than 800 graduate students (200 PhD students).

The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing educates nurses who are reflective practitioners and provide recognized leadership in nursing theory, research, practice, inter-professional health teaching and learning, and policy advancements.

**Responsibilities**:
The Curriculum Review Assistant ffor DARAO - EDID (Graduate Student Assistant) will support the review of curriculum for undergraduate and graduate courses offered within the School of Nursing, with the aim of highlighting opportunities for Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (EDID) principles within the curriculum.

This role supports curriculum review from EDID perspectives and critical theoretical standpoints in nursing practice. The reviewer will focus on facilitating exploration of themes of equity, diversity, and inclusivity, including, equity-oriented health care, cultural safety, trauma
- and violence-informed approaches, harm reduction, social justice, decolonization, global solidarity, anti-racism, and transformative learning. The Assistant will liaise with The co-chairs of the Anti-Racism/Anti-Oppression/Decolonization committee and FHS EDID Coordinator to provide recommendations for course review and content updates. Before beginning the review process, specific guidance, and curriculum review EDID training will be provided. This role will facilitate discussion and curriculum review within the School of Nursing and will encourage full faculty involvement in the review of courses.

Key goals for the role include:

- Lead the review of specific course content in the School of Nursing, which includes:

- Providing a basis for renewing or reforming components of a curriculum to better align with current EDID scholarship and praxis; and,
- Providing opportunities for professional development and growth regarding EDID through collaboration with faculty.
- Develop worksheets which outline and aid the review process, to include prompting guidelines for self-assessment and review in the future to be adopted by School of Nursing to support course improvement.
- Explore methods to engage and include students' perspectives, particularly among groups that have been historically marginalized and/or underrepresented in nursing scholarship and practice.

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements**

Required skills:

- Familiarity with educational technologies, strategies, and tools,
- Demonstrated commitment to, passion for, and knowledge of EDID
- Working knowledge of key EDID related legislation, concepts, issues, and trends
- Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated strong scholarly writing
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Capable of quickly learning new software with the ability and willingness to learn
- Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, manage multiple and diverse tasks, and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
- Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve goals
