**Summary**:
This position's is responsible for two main areas: one part being technical and the other being interpersonal. From a technical perspective the incumbent's role will be to develop and maintain kiln stability, quality and productivity. This will be accomplished via the interpersonal objective of operator development and training in appropriate, repeatable, consistent, clearly communicated and documented operating procedures.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
The responsibilities of this position are primarily the proper operation of the kiln and the mentoring and coaching of control room operators. This will be accomplished via the following:

- Mentoring of the existing Operators.
- Examination and re-evaluation of all existing kiln related SOPs. Update as required.
- Develop and implement critical kiln SOPs.
- Development of new SOPs as required.
- Communication of expectations in regards to kiln operations to all operators.
- Attendance at the daily performance meetings.
- Reviewing daily trends with operators and provide constructive feedback and follow up.
- Document operators' actions and any follow up coaching discussion that has taken place as a result.
- Training of both control room and field operators in kiln operation from a control room and field aspect.
- Defining and tuning of operational control loops related to kiln operation.
- Set up and maintenance of clear operational parameters for both kiln systems.
- Process measurements (example: Flow, Pressure, Temperature, Thermal scanning, etc.)
- Process running and shutdown inspection and updating inspections in Shutdown Planning and SAP files.
- Promotes safe work practices through the development and enforcement of standard operating procedures. Promotes environmental awareness and provides resources to ensure that equipment and personnel operate in a conscientious manner.

**Qualifications**:
A minimum of three or more years of technical experience, and preference to 3-5 years' experience in the cement industry is required.

Previous control room operating experience.

**Education and/or Experience**:
Completion of a technical degree or equivalent program required for manufacturing technologists, or extensive experience in kiln operations and processes.

**REQUIRED SKILLS**
- Advanced knowledge of preheater & precalciner kiln operation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suit.
- Knowledge of site's and appropriate occupational health and safety procedures.
- Good knowledge of plant production processes and maintenance procedures.
