**CASUAL/ON-CALL RECEPTIONIST/FOOD BANK ASSISTANT**

**Job Title**: Casual Receptionist/Food Bank Assistant

**Job Summary**: Agassiz-Harrison Community Services Society (AHCSS) Food Bank is available to residents in need of short-term (emergency) assistance and monthly assistance. The Food Bank Assistant is responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the food bank when the Food Bank

Coordinator is away.

The primary purpose of the receptionist is to greet and assist clients in face-to-face interactions or by telephone, serving as the first point of contact at either Agassiz-Harrison Community Services Society. The receptionist also completes administrative tasks as required by the Executive Director and other staff.

**Qualifications**: Grade 12 education or equivalent and office administration training and/or a combination of related education and experience. Food Safe training is required.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Assisting with food bank operations, directing volunteers, registering, and assisting food bank clients, receiving, and sorting food donations, and maintaining confidential client records.

2. Maintains food bank statistics and records in database.

4. Greets and assists clients with respect and empathy, and donors and members of the general public.

5. Assists walk-in clients with completing the brief intake form and makes appropriate referrals to staff members, if required.

6. Maintains a thorough knowledge of community resources to serve clients’ needs. Answers questions as required.

7. Ensures that reception and other common areas (kitchens, meeting rooms, etc.) are maintained in a clean and tidy manner.

8. Participates in staff professional development/training, supervision and administrative meetings as scheduled as well as attends monthly staff meetings when relevant or when required.

9. To perform other work-related duties as may be assigned.

**Other Requirements**:

- Police Information Check (PIC)
- Valid class 5 BC driver’s licence
- Drivers Abstract

**Pay rate per hour**: $ 18.98
